New Plastic Solution?
I have recently been tossing all my plastics in the trash and have been needing to watch my bottom line (scrap steel prices have fallen to 4 cents a pound here in Hawaii). I've looked around the Internet and the forms and it seems the only solution is to bale tons of the plastic and sell in bulk. I don't have tons of plastic but rather tens or hundreds max (not enough to warrant the purchase of the equipment).
I came across 2 solutions in my search. The first was melting the abs in acetone and remarketing it as abs glue. The second was a project called precious plastic: DIY granulater and molders to process your own plastic on the small scale. Melting my own recycled abs waste baskets could bring in a pretty penny. Had anyone had any experience doing any of this? And if so is it worth it?

seems that melting that plastic would be a nasty venture

I think you would have more tied up in acetone than what it would be worth when done.

Interested in the DIY granulator still seems costly though.
I agree with the cost vs. profit ratio with the acetone being a major expense.
