Saw my first penny floor recently & now I gotta have one, or at least a backsplash. Cost about $2.70 in pennies per square foot depending on how close you space them. Sounds pretty easy to install too. As much as we love copper how cool would it be to have one of these? Great conversation piece anyway.

Sirscrapalot - Always liked the bar's an tables in bars that had "penny" tops.
I've seen these.. totally awesome! There is a tattoo parlor somewhere that did their entire floor out of pennies.. I'll see if I can dig that up.

That is cool. In the pictures it shows her gluing 1 penny at a time, no wonder it took her 400 hours. Turned out great but if your going to do that big of a project use a template. It will go much faster if you are gluing down a square foot at a time rather than 1 penny.Quote:

Ha ha. Hate when I create a bunch of work for myself too. My wife wants all the carpet ripped out of the house now. Also looking into brown bag floors, it looks like leather flooring.

That looks amazing. Notice it's a very small space. Otherwise the time it would take to make it would outweight the coolness factor. I wonder how they sealed it?
Of course the first thing I thought was "How do you clean that and keep it looking good?" (But I'm a female, so that response might not be as common around here!)
Never saw that before, it would take me forever making sure the all lined up the same and I could never stand having like years side by side.
Sealed several ways, but the best way seems to be to grout in between the pennies and then cover all of it with a UV protection clear epoxy. Then you will have a pretty smooth finish without cracks dust can Get into.Quote:
