do any of you guys know how to tell if an appliance control board is good or not ? any ideas without plugging it in. the reason I ask is I buy turntables and dishwasher racks from a local yards shred pile . if they are intact can they be repaired ? say I buy one but don't know if it works and list it on ebay for 10 bucks stating I don't know if it works or not
First thing I would look for is blown cap's or burnt spots on the circuit board or around the surface mount transistors.

Burnt parts usually cost more to troubleshoot and repair than what they are worth. Repair techs usually get $30. - $60 hr.
any other parts come to mind in washers, dryers, dishwashers to resell ?

If you are getting microwave ovens. Things are gonna change soon.
We (people in general) are getting rid of the older ovens with 2 coils of Copper in the transformers and buying more newer ovens with 'Invertor tec' in them (Invertor tec means 100gms of Copper wire rather than 2 Lbs) and cheaper ovens with one Copper & one Ali coil in the windings, maybe even two Ali windings....
Most microwaves stop because someone opened the oven door while it was still going.
While its still going, theres a larger amount of power going thru the safety switches, because of the higer power, thers a bigger arc, and that burns the contacts shut, or open.
That will blow the microwaves main fuse, stopping it from working. Thats when most people throw them away.
So, check to see if its any good & can be resold, then check if the safety switches are operating properly, then replace them & see if it works. If it works - sell it!
Most of the time you have to replace all of the switches at the same time, as the contacts burn out at the same rate.

Look at the spinners in the dishwasher. They wear out in the centre. I have made a post a few days ago about it. Check that as the spinner seems to be the first thing that wears out.
all the working parts are resellable the first problem is finding the person who needs the part. the second is competing with everyone else in the appliance parts sector. could be a long turnover on some parts hammer ebay with them and scrap them if they don't sell after a couple tries would be my suggestion.

thanks that's very helpful NHscrapman that's a very helpful website , there's a used appliance store the next town over , they deal in used appliances and they say used parts , I may stop in there tomorrow and see if there looking to buy parts and if so are there any particular parts there looking for.
depends on the value of the board and whats wrong with it, if its a $50+ board its gonna be worth fixing. I am seeing control boards much more now going for over
$100 as appliances are getting smarter (more complicated)
I like it. since I have no way of testing them and if the boards look burnt may just list them on ebay under parts and repair for like 5 or $10 . Specify don't know if it works or not
anybody try to resell the lp converter on gas dryers. Just Bought one and it ran me $40 + dollars
What I do with appliances is google them. You can search for the model "common problem" and you will see each model has common problems like a door switch, pump, fill valve, ect.. Pull those parts and try to resell them.
