Board ID

Just hoping to get some feedback from the members who are in the know, and you know who you are, lmao. This first pic is from a board pulled from a high end laser printer/copier. It was the main control board. I'm thinking this is gold plating, but don't want to get too excited until I hear from you guys.

Pic #3 now this is from an older desktop adding machine. Sure looks like gold but from an adding machine? The back of this board is brown.

Yes that is gold but gold dosn't allways make the board high grade. They look to be low grade to me.

i think you have a low grade board there, i dont know about the gold content though :( sorry

In my opinion, if both sides are green, you should have mid high grade at the least. That is contingent on both sides being green.

There is nothing on those boards to make them any higher than low grade.

Gold content and on #1 the IC chips under the black "dots". I save mine for the occasion of "toll refining"

Yeah someth8ng like this...just save it for later toll refine or you might surprised at the $$$ someone will give you on ebay for them..just put green on both sides for gold recovery and the $$$ will fall out of their backsides...lol....really it will.

I sometimes wonder if eBay prices might be the correct prices. Making all of us the fools not eBay buyers. Afterall, we believe our material is worth what those who buy it from us say it's worth. Many antique dealers will say that eBay killed their business. But what really happened was eBay just showed everyone how many of those supposedly unique items were really out there. Resulting in the market getting a much needed pricing adjustment. My 2 cents (my cost) and worth less probably.

Only way to truly know is to take the time to process similar/same board through to the end result and publish results....either for free or for $$$ where evwryone can "look it up" or at least estimate it.

You cpuld actually make it a business as a membership site with updates as you test kore and more. Charge like $5/mo or $50/yr....or whatever. Bet we all might come up with $50-100 to have the info....I dont have the experience to do the processing yet or I might actually do that myself.

I have always said that e-bay prices are true prices, but I never applied that to scrap items and always bought into the argument that scrap is over priced on e-bay. Thanks for the mind worm and something to think about.

Flint, we have a few guys on this forum that do refine; maybe some of them will see this thread and would care to comment on your suggestion that eBay prices are the correct prices.

I can tell you this:

As someone who's bought materials off eBay and shipped them to the commercial refineries, it's a huge losing proposition. eBay pricing is mainly morons speculating and over paying because they read some guide on how to recover precious metals that they bought off eBay.

If you learn the usernames, you'll notice that even boardsort doesn't buy on their very much any more. There's eBay pricing, and then what it's really worth.

Ebay for certain ewaste is overpriced. Take a look at any pentium pro. The gold content in one pent pro is estimated between 0.3-0.5 grams of gold. Those yields are from people who have run them for years. One of which is a member here. Some people on ebay have listed them as yielding as much as 1 gram of gold..BS!!!!! So lets do some math.

Gold as of right now is $1243.00 per toz(troy ounce). There are approx 31 grams per toz. 1243/31= $40 per gram approx.
So lets say on the high side a pent pro yields a half gram of gold. $40.00/2= $20.00.
Take into account the time and chemicals it takes to get the gold, I personnaly would not be spending more than $10 on one pent pro. And even at that price I would be making only a few dollars profit.

Now take a look at what pent pros are being listed at or sold for and I bet it is in the $25-$30 range. I think that most people who buy at these prices are either- blinded by the gold, to steal one of olddudes sayings or speculating that the price of gold will increase and will resell somewhere down the road. Home refiners are not buying at these prices that I can assure you.

I agree somewhat that ebay pricing is probably close to real value on most items but NOT scrap items. What we sell our ewaste to our buyers for, is what the market brings for scrap at that particular time. Is ewaste worth a bit more, of course it is why would anyone buy anything unless to make a profit? But realize this, lets say a good green board is worth 2.50 to 3.00 per pound to the sellers. That same board may be worth 4.00 to 6.00 per pound to a buyer who is going to have that board refined.
Ok so the buyers are doubling their money you say? Not really. Remember the big buyers have mucho overhead. Employee salaries, utilities, vehicle maintenance, insurance to name but a few. So in reality that board to them after refinement and expenses is probably worth 2.75 to 3.25 per pound. Also they have to have certain weights to make it worth refining. Not a few hundred pounds, more likely a few tons!

To the op board one looks to be copper contact points, second board may be gold and third looks to be mixed. # 1 low grade, # 2 ?, # 3 mid grade maybe. The only one who can tell you for sure is your buyer.
The black blobs may or may not have gold under them.
