Scrap prices are up this month and expected to jump again in December. Winter bump is here. The yards are empty. Exports are doing alright and the mills have competition for the first time in a long time.

Thanks for the heads-up!
yeah i noticed this also
Jumped $20 a ton. Up from $210/ton to $230. (South of Chicago)
I'm going to have to check my yards today and see if the prices changed.
The ferrous scrap markets are regional. The price increases are for the Mid West.
No price increase here in the Philadelphia/Trenton area.
The Evraz Claymont Delaware steel plant shutting down in December has put a big dent in ferrous scrap demand here.
Most of the yards around here are paying $165 to $170 a ton for shred. There are two yards (one in Levittown PA and one in Camden NJ) paying $200 for shred, but that is not a new price. And both yards only pay $215 a ton for prepared #1 and cast iron.
Need more demand from Turkey and lower yard inflows to drive up East coast prices.
^^^ shred has been 160 per ton on the island for most of the year. #1 has been 200 per ton forever as well. The only increase I have seen is I am getting $1.30 for ps wire and .95 for telephone and ribbon wire. They are classifying ps wire as romex? I will take that all day long.
the 'grapevine' has held recent rumors of a increase here in CO too. yet to see it tho'
