Newbie Here!
I've spent 14 years installing windows, I've scrapped a lot of aluminum when it's convenient. Anything steel or cast iron I would give to my local scrap man. I'm not installing anymore. I still work with windows and doors, but I wear slacks and clicky shoes to work now.
Seldom do I work more than 6 hours a day, and I've been tempted to hit up the many dumpsters I drive past every day. I still have my longbed work truck with a lumber rack that doesn't get driven but once a week. I figure why not put my truck back to work and why not kill some time in the early mornings and afternoons dumpster diving.
I doubt much aluminum or copper makes its way into these dumpsters, probably looking at mostly steel. I haven't ever scrapped out in the wilderness, I have only recycled material that I have personally extracted from people's homes.
So that's my spiel. I don't have any crucial questions I need answers to, I figure I'll learn as I go. Look forward to browsing and searching for info on here.

Thanks a lot, fellas. I'm pretty new to the Charlotte area, just moved here 6 months ago from Southern California.

Welcome from south of Chicago.

Welcome to the forum and the area. You will do well with the attitude you have. Read the sticky threads and read the old threads, also at the bottom of each thread is a list of related threads. Mike.

Welcome, although I'm still new here myself as well.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. Trolled a few dumpsters in some industrial areas tonight on my way home work. I don't believe it paid for the fuel I used on said detour. I didn't realize how uncomfortableit is to drive through a parking lot and shoot straight to the back. I don't want any trouble with hidden cameras taking down my plate numbers or get fined over some junk.
I'll do some more reading up on the Johnny law side.
