Cat3, cat5, cat6
Hello,
First post. I have been reading the forums for several days trying to figure out the best way to scrap my cable. I own a small communications company and get scrap wire every day. I know you can sell it "as is" but I'm wondering if I would get more money for removing the outer jacket of the cable. I know it is to labor intensive to strip each 22/24 gauge wire but removing the cable jacket is quite simple. Does anyone if removing the jacket would yield a higher price per lb?
Thanks,
CP

It's going to be insulated either way. might as well just leave it on for the extra weight.

You will probably not get any better of a price by removing the outer jacket, you are only reducing the weight you will be paid on. It is still insulated wire. Cat 3/5/6/6e should pay a bit better than regular #2 insulated because the wires are solid. I usually get somewhere in between #1 and #2 price.

cutting the gold connectors off the ends would be as far as i would go, then you will have 2 happy buyers
