That thing is huge..... wonder what that was use for???
I wonder if cleaned up some if a museum would buy that, I have driven buy that one up 287 and always wanted to stop in there??
Here's a little simple way to clean up the rust, bucket or tub full of vinegar let it soak overnight or longer if necessary. I've also heard of people using soda.
I have no clue what it's used for was hoping someone would no. My dad had this rust stuff he uses.
(don't tell the "liquid wrench" guys this, but water caused the rust, it breaks the rust down better too ; ) Unless it's something that's already covered in oil by now.

Hey, its not a bigger version of one of these is it?http://centros.edu.xunta.es/iessanxe...micrometer.jpg he he
I'm very sure I have seen a similar 'G clamp' before.. Dunno where & when. Something to do with boats? Were there any other tools similar or close to it?
That's not a clamp it is a micrometer, they're used for measuring. I've never seen a 200 pound one though!
the curved grooved jaw on the clamp gives me the impression its use was related in some way to pipes, either in drilling or irrigation on that farm.
I think was to hold gas pipes underground together because I hauled a huge pipe off his property to
It looks like a pipe cutter to me; the T handle being the adjustment as you'd find in a copper tube cutter. My first thought was the third point hitch off a tractor, but it's too big for that. You sure it's 200 lbs? Looks more like 40.
