Ok, guys I know I am a newb here so bear with me, :) I have done multiple searches and not found the answer I was looking for (it is possible I missed it however).. The question is what to do with all the little boards I am getting off the laptops I am breaking down. (like .5x3" or the real little ones around .375x.750") Does anyone send them in as well are they worth the effort? Thanks for your advice. I am a little new to the e recycling, (used to do cars back in my youth..)

Most of the escrappers sell the laptops whole as that also gets rid of the plastic/screens, by the time you tear them down there is not much good left.
Are they the Wifi cards with the tiny row of gold fingers? If so, I just tossed them in with the finger cards. Picture would help a lot.
I agree with mechanic, contact your local ewaste buyer because after all those little pita screws, you dont have much, then you got a whole mess of plastic and a screen to recycle. check out the buyers section here and figure in the shipping and see if its close. then take the better route. I stopped tearing those down after one, too much wasted time and very low ROI.

My yard accepts e-waste and pays differently for all boards.
Currently those little boards are green on green boards and they
pay $1 per pound. I throw them in with lcd/dvd boards that pay the same.
if you do disassemble laptops you can sell the laptop screws for $5-$10 a pound. access doors/covers in random lots for approx $5 per pound. if you know how to test the screens you can get $20-$50 each on a some of those as well
Time is not an issue for me as I enjoy the "puzzle " of how to get them apart and my son likes to help.. :) and I figure I'm making 0 per hour on the couch watching TV...
seems the general concensus is you should put all those little boards back where they came from, and sell them as whole scrap units ; )

That's exactly how I see it. I'm tearing apart these drives and electronics at my desk at work and people think I'm nuts, but not only do I enjoy it but it's somewhat productive, at least alot more productive than surfing the web or playing candy crush, and it's a welcome distraction. I'm glad you asked this though as I'm getting quite a collection of these small boards as well. I might just end up trying to sell them in lots on ebay and see what happens.Quote:

I save the ones with those little round buttons, they have little gold contacts under them
Many of those are considered mid and even high grade boards...depends on your buyer and the amount of gold on them...so dont just dismiss them...I have turned a number of boards in as motherboard recently due to the quality.At the very least all boards at a minimum are low grade...and I get .15-.20 a pound on those...better than bulk laptop rates imo....but my guy also buysthe stripped laptop chassis for the lcd screen.
I get Mid-grade pricing for those, around $2 a lb for me.Quote:

I am glad your tearing them down its well worth it if your going to do this as a serious way of making money you need to maximize every dollar every cent because this is a bulk business and it adds up fast I personally now pay my employee 50cents each to tear them down. I do not do plastic atm because of space I do not have to store it but I sell everything else and just scrap value of laptops I average $7 selling boards screws screens batteries and so forth which is lower than what a lot of other people get but I am growing and making better connections every day even broken screens still will sell vs. recycling or tossing. this is a great site besides the whole of the internet to research, learn and maximize everything you can
