I been stock piling for the last three months, copper, mixed brass, insulated cable and about 23 air conditioners. can any one point me and the right direction as to where i could get the best prices in Hudson County. i been going to Sims in Jersey and for some reason they never have any kind of price sheet available it's like a guessing game so i re-fuse to deal with Sims, any and all help would be much appreciated.
They don't have a price sheet? How do they know what to pay you? Not sure about your state but here, prices must be posted. One place I know, posts them on an erasable board above the pay window. Can you call them before hauling stuff in there? That's what a lot of people do around here - call all the yards (some on a daily basis) and haul to whoever quotes the highest price for what they have.
You have to call and when you call you could never get a straight answer you direct line to the scale house and when you look at other prices online and haul it down to there yard it's always lower then other yards... I will be posting some photos of my stock pile here in a few.
That would be a scrapyard I'd use ONCE - if that.

I deal with SIMS in Sacramento. When I want to know prices, I call and ask to talk to the buyer.
Sim in NJ sucks!! you call and they switch you to the scale house and they never pick up the phone they want you to come down so they could **** you. i have a scale of my own and if they don't match wight i walk!!!
Yeah not a bad looking mess at all, i still have like 23 air conditioners on the back of my second truck and more wire. i think I'm gonna wait until i have about 1000 pounds of each then cash in as I'm still on the hunt for the right yard. it's money in the bank at this point..

My yard doesn't post anything, and the guys at the scales aren't allowed to talk pricing. If you want to know prices, you have to talk about it with the people in the office. It was very frustrating when I first started, but I soon got into the habit of calling before I bring in a load of non-ferrous materials. They don't make the process very friendly for newbies, but I have to admit that they don't ever do anything squirrelly between the scale and the payout window.
It's the only yard that takes shred within a reasonable drive of me, so it doesn't really matter what the pay is: if I want to play in the scrap game, they're the ones I go to for everything but ewaste.
Buddy of mine takes his non-ferrous to Dabal & Sons in Garfield. That's not Hudson Co. but not far. He takes ferrous to Cinelli in Secaucus. Don't know if either takes A/C but worth a call. If you really get desperate on the A/C units you can call Arlington Scrap in Wayne, tell him what you got
NJ yards aren't prone to posting prices.
One yard in my area posts prices. All others make you call. Asked one guy for a price sheet, told me he doesnt do price sheets so i ask why he doesnt and apparently cause he doesnt want other yards comparing prices...Not sure what the reasoning behind that is... All they have to do to figure it out is call them lol
