mattress recycling question

ok so I have read through a few different post on here and I know the idea of either stripping or burning them I get that and such but not what I want to know I have done that before and get more money from tvs than mattresses. my question is that I have looked on the web and found only a couple of mattress recyclers and I know some yards take them as shred at least in the past my yards do not here but the question I have for everyone is that I live in iowa in ames a college town and every year about 1200-1700 of them are tosses out and I sure would like to make money off these ya but its not want I had in mind as our town waste system shreds and burns them recycling them in there own way but I wanted to know if anyone close to me with in say 500 miles anyway that recycles them for the purpose of reusing the content. I would like to set up a city wide pick up locations for these in the future to reduce the cost the city has to take care of these and to really find a better way of recycling them even if it means I start a whole mattress shredding site but with bedbugs and such I have not found good ways to recycle these as resale is illegal.

Your a brave soul. College town mattresses, chance of bed bugs an other not cool pests...an you want an option for that doesn't include burning, or dropping off at the yard. You are a brave one. I applaud your efforts.

If you take the time to learn how to check for the dreaded bed bugs an other things(Fluids, other pests, etc.) You could try your local homeless shelters, churches, etc. That provide such things to folks who need them. Just make sure that stuff is clean of all things before you do.

I can't stress enough the importance of checking for those infernal bugs. An for all that is holy, use gloves man..college town beds, an bed bugs..gah..Get a hazmat suit..College kids do some crazy stuff. Heh.
