Just bought one off of NewEgg. Are they easy to use? Pretty Accurate? I've been making a killing selling power supplies and need to test the ones that were stored away.

I once bought a very cheap one, it was always good to have, still works on older ones including P4. Not sure what you got or anything, but if it works you'll be glad to have it
I use one. It works great and assures me of it's condition.
You cannot just use a volt-ohmmeter as certain wires or lines need a jumper or something like that to activate all the voltages of the supply.
I guess the testers have that internally. If you don't use the jumper in the right spot then part of the supply will read as dead.

i dont use a tester, i just hook them up directly to motherboard on my bench
Mine's just a little rinky dink thing, like any other simple electrical tester, plug it to a plugged in power supply unit and it all comes on, then you can test each connector into the same testers different inputs and test them while it's runningQuote:

For the price I don't see why everyone doesn't have one. Of course you have to make sure the buyer of the supply knows not to use a 250W power supply on a new gamer system that needs a 700W one.

They will test just about everything including server power supplies with 6&8 pin additional power connectors.
This is similar to the one I have, but I have the lcd output one where it reads voltages. This is ideal for any testing. Case in point. My media center pc which is a quad core with a 4650 vid card died one night. I was watching netflix and just shut down. I got it runnnig and it appeared hard drive was dead. So put another drive and tried reinstalling winblows. Kept crashing on reinstall. So I was pissed and left it be for the night. Next day got out the psu tester and found the 3.3 line dropping sporadically. Rest of the voltages decent. So obviously my trusty Antec Neopwer 500 modular psu finally croaked after 6 years of service. So yes you do need one that reads voltages. And 2 another case of point. Antec is the cats meow. I bought that psu off of Ebay used in 2007. It was used in many different machines over the years and used to test a lot of items. So Antec is the best you can ever buy. In fact, you guessed it. I ended up using a 400w antec I got out of a scrap computer and no issues whatsoever.Quote:
