So I am out in the field moving metal. I'm usually very careful when picking stuff up because I know there's lots of snakes and spiders. Sure enough grabbed a barrel through it towards the truck, looked down and a copper head was coiled up and snapping towards my boot. Warming up gotta keep an eye out for that stuff.
I read(or heard somewhere) the majority of snakebites are to the hand, while someone is reaching into some place they can't see in to. Something to think about ; )
Yeah I don't generally reach inside of stuff. And I flip things flat on the ground. Not just snakes but in ground bees nest. Do the folks on here that buy cars run across those nice surprises?
No snakes to speak of but I learned an important lesson about spiders last year. Be careful what you stick your hand in.
It's the beginning of wasp sting season again, not got stung yet but I'm sure it's coming. I find lots of critters digging thru scrap heap and in cars, but mainly hornets and wasps. God I hate getting stung but no pain, no gain !

A .357 on the side of my belt would give me some relief, I'm glad I don't see any poisonous snakes where I live, the only ones I see, are garter snakes, and that's about it.
I keep a 22 loaded with varmint shot for just such occasions. I find raccoon nest often. I pepper them and they vacate there nest.
I prefer a 12 gauge but a 22 is a lOt more portable

It took me a decade of being the only one to get stung in a group of people for me to find that out..........
Also, it covers up the male tetesterone smell which may account for something else....

In cars they love to build in any space around doors, hood, or trunk or basically every place I'm gona be looking in. In scrap plies , count on finding them anywhere and everywhereQuote:
