Brass fittings and nickel plated plug ends

I've got a few questions.

First, I have come across about 20 pounds of brass compression fittings. The copper pipes were sawn off as close as possible but there is still some copper attached. Can I still take that in and what would the classification be?

Second, what do I do with the silver colored plug ends from power cords? I read on here that they are nickel plated brass but what do the yards call it?

Last, what is on motherboards that is worth $1800 per ounce? A guy at the scrap yard showed me the populations and said that the material in them go for $1800 an ounce but didn't say what it was. It has me pretty intrigued. What is it and is it possible to extract that yourself?

here, the yards will give you the rate for brass since its lower in value than the copper & u have very little copper as most of it was sawn off

i dont know about the other two things you asked about.

So can just lump the copper bearing fittings in with my clean brass? Or does it still need to be separate?

Call your yard and ask... they're all different.

My yard would probably give me the same price as clean brass, but you're yard may consider it something different.

1/ With those Brass compresion fitting nuts on Copper pipe.
I put the pipe flat on concrete & bash the nut with a hammer, maybe twice, then I rotate the Copper pipe 90 deg & bash the Brass nut again, normally it cracks & falls off.
Brass is made from Copper & Zinc, so theres no problem with leaving Copper on the Brass stuff.

2/ I think I weighed up the Brass pins on a plug & got 8 grams Brass ........

3/ Gold, Gold was $1800, now its not. Theres nothing thats solid Gold in a computer.
Its all Gold plating & you actually remove the other metals from Gold bearing scrap, rather than removing the Gold from the Gold bearing scrap............ Thats why it takes so long & involves lots of really dangerous stuff & chemicals.

Best way to get Gold is to sell your Gold bearing stuff for a good price, then buy some 99.999% Gold with it.

Throw those brass fittings in with clean brass, a little copper will not hurt the brass. Do the blug ends still have the rubber on them or do you pull the the brass things out? I just leave them on the cords. I don't know what would be in a mother board that is worth 1800.00.

apparently your yard is not up on current prices, maybe you can take advantage of that and get better rates for your scrap

He pointed to the capacitors so i assume he was talking palladium? Although his $1800 per ounce quote must have come to him in a dream. Or that's what he's told. Either way i was just curious. Anyone mess with removing capacitors themselves?
