more cash in parting but takes more time and moving around
More money in parting it out
BUT
Do you have a place to park it while you part it out? Without someone complaining?
Do you have a way to properly dispose of the antifreeze? Oil?
Unless I have the part sold I don't ever remove more than :
Battery, radiator, cat, and tires, if they are any good and common size. Depends on what it is and what it fits I often save aftermarket goodies, if they are in good shape, nerf bars headache rack, and the like
nerf bar and headache rack? is that like a roll bar? There's a heavy duty roll bar out behind Dads old place that I'm not sure where it came from but seems to be in good shape.Quote:

also depends if you have a title, I just scrapped one that I didn't have a title for and had to cut it up or they wouldn't take it. also consider price of heavy and light steel my yard pays less for whole cars then light steel
This what I call a headache rack, also called a back window protector. Don't weigh much and will sell for a 50$ bill any day of the week.

Grill guards or front end protector, are often a easy sell. Tool boxes can sell well if they are in good shape.

I don't scrap cars but if I did I would pull the following items off and sell seperate. Radiator,battery,starter,alternater,computer brain if it has one,wirring,heater core, ac condencer and any aluminum. All these can be sold for more then steel. Just my .02
Find your local core buyer. You can sell it in pieces to one person all at once and for WAY better than scrap prices ,and you don't have to keep it for a week waiting for all who said they wanted a part. And core buyers will buy the parts you think no one wanted because they were bad. Core buyers buy the bad parts to rebuild them and sell to their market .
After core buyer is done ,you still have a hull to sell for scrap without waiting a week for all the (no shows) to buy one part ,and then find out it was a bad alt. or starter or whatever..then refund the money after all the trouble.
heres is some more stuff that always resells quickly and is quickly removed from cars: ecu, climate control panel, mirrors, headlights, taillights, ac compressor,ac lines, ac condensor, radiator, catalytic converter, wheels/tires
also do a full part out on the drivers door, it is worth it every time
Since I started Electrowaste I haven't scrapped a car. Having said that I'd have the puppy in 27,459 pieces all separated out!
