Latest findsies, keepsies and fixiupsies

Neighbor two doors down threw this away after taking a couple parts and the cord off. I know it needs a regulator and he said it works but works slow. If I can get it going again i can use this monster in my garage for air tools!!! not sure if the regulator on my small one will work or not. sucker is heavy!!

Lol, as I was wheeling it home an older couple just out driving and eyeballing trash pulled up and asked if I was throwing it way, I felt bad as I told them no I was going to try and fix it. They were so cute.

looks like a good old timey one! make sure the oil is good in it. The motor's easy to swap out. Do you know what parts he took? It doesn't have a guard on it, might not be hard to make one though, might even find an open crate of some kind to just roll it into and help keep kids away from the wheels, or maybe just a wire cage that sits down over the whole thing

thanks bear! I do have something at dads I can use to make a guard from. other than the regulator and cord I'm not sure what else he took. There might be some parts at my dads I can use, when I find these my brothers or I take things off of them for ''just in case.'' oh, the hose is gone also but I can use mine for that no problem!

Yeah, that old man saw that and it brought him back a few decades.

I wired it today to check the motor and it runs fine - I used a scrap computer cord and scrap flat wire connectors. Going to go tomorrow and get a regulator and pressure hose to finish it up. the only thing that threw me off was the extra hole. nearest I can figure is it was rigged with an extra pressure gauge so I'm going to root around the garage tonight and see if I can find an extra plug for the extra hole. I'm not figuring I'm going to need the extra gauge just for using it little bit for air tools.

Next up will be cleaning it up and maybe a new coat of paint to freshen it up but I do love the old used look it has going on :)

The extra hole is for the high low pressure switch isn't it?

see, thats where I'm confused - there are 3 holes - one coming out the front of the tank, one on the side of the tank and one coming out the side of the tank that runs from the compressor.

does it have a safety pop-off valve ?

that computer cord probly aint strong enough. Might be best to use an end from an old extension cord

Is one a water drain from the tank, maybe down low on one end?? It's a little pull thingie that's spring loaded on my older one.
It allows you to drain the moisture out after it's ran for awhile.

Often theres a valve somewhere on the compressors that 'unloads' the backpressure on the compressor while the motors starting up.
Once the motors up to speed it closes & lets the tank fill up with compressed air. That could be what the other fitting is for. I dunno, I'll have a look at mine when I'm there.
