This Weeks Haul
940lbs shred @ $225NT ($105.75)
23lbs yellow brass @ $1.90lb ($43.7)
19lbs EL motors @ .17lb ($3.23) Most of these were transformers, they don't differentiate between the two
18lbs #2 Insulated @ .87lb (15.66) Felt I got shafted on this, all of this was extension cords
46lbs Old Sheet @.49lb ($22.54) Most of this was cast/extruded (heatsinks/HD platters) again they dont differentiate between these.
Total $190.88
Not to bad considering all the shred was from my back garage. I like the shred, brass price, el motor price, but I'm going to find another yard to take my insulated wire. Seems like that is waaaaay to low for the recovery on the cords. Also have to check to see if other yards around me offer more for extruded/cast, or if they just group them all together. Any feedback would be appreciated. By the way I took the money I made and bought some e-scrap off craigslist. I'll post some pics and quantities tomorrow after I get everything sorted. Not a ton of weight compared to some of the big boys on the site, but I'm about a month or so into the game, give or take a week.

Usually motors/transformers are higher at about .25-.30 a pound...nice shred price.
-
Yep, motors usually run .25
#2 insulated runs about 1.10-1.25 and
extruded runs about .05 - .10 higher than cast/old sheet
If you find the right yard then you'll have a little better payday.

I only get 75 c per pound for ext cords/ mixed wire. But like the others said motors should be mid 20s per pound. extruded should be paying higher than old sheet. Usually cast and sheet run together, extrusion should be higher by 15-20%.

I made around $1300-1400 last week. Mostly E-waste and other metals I have been keeping in the garage, lol

Great job! Keep plugging away.

I went to see my buddy at the garage and during the early morning someone had stopped by out front and dumped off 2 large screen TV's. I told him I was his go-to guy and he delivered them to my place along with a large dual trace scope someone dropped off also. They use his garage yard as a catch-all.
It's great when they'll deliver the scrap.
Pic's will follow as I break down the scope, we all know what's inside the large screens. don't we??

I've found that if you can find a core buyer that buys electric motors they will most likely pay more than a scrap yard. I get .33-.36# for electric motors/transformers. Also look around for other yards and get some prices. The shred and yellow brass sound good but the rest seems to be a little low. I use about 4 diffrant yards to get the best prices.

No. I do not know what is inside large flat screen tv's. Please educate, as i saw 3 of them today and let them be.
