A surprise item

When I curb hunt any metal big or small is fair game ,I found this round metal container looked like a flower very corny looking , had Nick knacks and a magic marker in the container It was in the truck a month tossed all around and almost tossed it to mix with stuff inside but didn't .
I am glad I didn't , I took a close look and found a 1883 Morgan dollar attached to a buckle the buckle says SWANK on the back the coin is held on like a diamond with 4 bent pieces of metal it's in fine condition Might be for a Mans tie ? any way the silver of the coin is fine by me .

I have an 1879 Morgan dollar I got from a job in amazing condition. Do NOT sell for scrap value, take to a reputable coin dealer. You will be pleasantly surprised.

That is why I always check any boxes, containers or suitcases I bring home as soon as I get home. That lets me know if I need to go back to that location again that night and to watch for what else is being thrown out at that location in the future.
I once picked up an old suitcase that I knew I could sell for $5-$10 got it home and it was once used as someones disaster prepardness kit in the 60's, it contained a lot of cool items and $5 face value in silver dimes. The next garbage night I made it a point to go by that same house, sure enough two more of the same suitcases, one was empty, the other had more DP items and another $30 face value in silver dimes, plus 2 newer $50 wraped around them with a note that said "attention these are all old silver dimes, worth far more than their face value, will come in handy in times of emergency". I have also opened boxes that had cd's dvd's so I brought them home opened the boxes to look further and found not only cd's dvd's but autographed rock posters and gold and silver jewelry. I did wind up selling the three suitcases for $30 at the fleamarket.

Thats awesome!! Its one of those little things that makes scarpping so much fun. Its kind of like treasure hunting and sometime you hit a small jackpot!! Definitely hold on to it or go to a coin dealer or ebay. numismatic value is more than melt.

I do like curb hunting . But the best is the curbside clean out . It more times then not delivers some thing interesting .
