Are all aluminum pots and pans made of cast aluminum?
By me, fry pans get graded as sheet.
Thanks Nick. I just started working at a scrap yard last week and I was doing some sorting today and pulled out a ton of pots and pans that were thrown into our extrusion pile. I knew they didn't belong in there. I cut the handles off and started sorting them. Some of them I knew were sheet and some in knew were cast however some i was unsure of so I asked my manager and he had no clue so I've been on a mission to find the answer. I feel dumb that I didn't think to hit it with a Hamer lol kinda common sence

It boggles my mind that a manager of a scrap yard doesn't the diffrance between sheet and cast aluminum. Was this yard buying aluminum pots and pans as extruded aluminum or did somebody throw them in that pile because they didn't know any better?? Maybe I should bring my pots and pans to that yard.
are forks spoon and knives generally just shred/tin? I had some and was just wondering if they might be something more than that
Even if silverware is stamped "stainless steel" Touch them with a magnet. I remember when I got into doing this- I proudly brought a good slug of stamped "Stainless Steel" Forks, knives and spoons to the scrap yard, guy hit them with a magnet- steel, shred, crap steel- he said! I even was dumb enough to argue with him- I said "They are STAMPED stainless steel" he said it has an iron content- so not true stainless!
At my yard all aluminum pays the same, $.45.
