What should be taken off boards to maximize PROFITS

Just starting to reve up the e-scrap, need some help what should be taken off, and what should be left on.I know there are lots of opinions on this subject I know for sure the heat sinks, and the chips under them and the ram,and that's about all i know for sure,I want to know what to tell the crew what to take and what to leave thanks.

Well if you were sending the boards to me I would tell you to remove the battery and any steel along with any large plastic brackets. Other than that leave the rest on.

I pop off any visible copper too. It's not much but it adds to the bucket.

I would pop off the Tantalum caps and send them to me.:D

PTS and the like don't get paid on them and pay to have them removed by the refinery (by you per pound charge). Board refineries don't pay on Ta because they can't melt it. It is sold to a secondary refinery in the slag from your boards. I pop mine off when I remove the battery takes no time more and it pays for the time to remove the battery. I leave everything ells on the board that is soldered on.

FYI it take about 1500-2000 SMD Tantalum caps to get a pound of them.

If you do that to high-grade boards, you are likely lowering the value on them.

I may be wrong but on Motherboards I just pop off the CPUs, pull the RAM, and heatsink/fan (over CPU) and that's it. On fingercards, I leave the metal bracket on. Some people choose to pull them off, good for them. My buyer says it's ok to leave them on so I do. His price is set for me to leave them on, a lot of buyers prices are, to pull the brackets is cheating yourself.

I've used 4 different buyers and no one has told me that ,,yet.

That's a lot different from the way I have been doing it to. To me, low grade boards, CRT monitor boards for example get robbed for every tidbit of AL and CU. They become essentially shred after all so gotta get what you can get. On mid grade and high grade I've only been removing stuff that are "removeable" and are excessive.
