stereo receivers
Anyone know what the big heavy box(cube) like thing inside a stereo is called? I've been removing quite a few of these recently and there is a little bit of copper inside them. Really easy to remove, usually held in with four screws. And what about that part that looks like a bunch of really thin plates(aluminum?) in a row. Anyone know what that's called. I tried to google this but couldn't find anything. Thanks

Ok, answered my own question. Google finally came through! The objects I was referring to are the transformer and the heat sink. The transformers are about the size of my fist and weigh about 11 lbs. And supposedly the core has non-ferrous ranging from aluminum, copper, brass, paper, and glass. And the heat sink is very light and is usually aluminum but sometimes copper. Just so happens one of the heat sinks I pulled out of a Dell computer is copper.
