Have any of you tore down any well pump? You know they're usually heavy and blue. I don't care whether or not they are worth it in terms of time because I like doing things like that when I'm drinkin a bud. Thanks for any help!

what type are you talking about mechanical or electrical? any pictures?

I have been intersest in making fake but real looking hand water pumps for a while, its just a bunch of various steel tubes welded together & a handle made from a cast Ali picnic bench or seat.
Same widda windmills.
yea, thats why i asked, IT dosent make any sense to why someone would tear down a cast iron pump. So im assuming hes talking about the electrical type. Either way your looking at more than scrap in resale value. pEOPLE REPAIR THE ELECTRICAL TYPE AND COLLECT THE MECHANICAL TYPE.

Alot of peole that have well water like to have a hand pump incase the electric goes out they can still get water. It dosen't matter how deep the well is as long as the hand pump will hold it's prime. When I was a kid we had a well with a hand pump and the well was deep enough that the water wouldn't freeze in the winter, we always had water.

If the End (Blue part past the motor) (picture left) is Aluminum or Alum Cast, Get that off and separate-also be sure to see if you can get that nice shiny cast alum off the end with the insulated copper coming out.
If the End is Steel- Leave it on it, Take it to a place that buys Electric Motors by weight and Get paid Motor rate. Generally around here- steel is paying .10/lb, Elec Motors: .20/lb, Aluminum .50/lb
Be sure to snip off the insulated copper you can see on the end (Red and Yellow) and toss it in your insulated bucket/barrel, pays $1/lb here
***One HUGE note: The end of that motor looks like the Gear Housing: and inside, that may be PACKED with grease, and from experience, it is messy and not worth trying to clean the alum if it is alum, I'd take the bolt out, see if it is packed with grease- if so, slide that housing back together re-insert the bolt and sell it at motor weight. You'll thank me later!

I'd check your pump housing on ebay. Pumps that freeze, break there, and it would save them money, and make you money, if you could connect
