I've just started getting into e-scrap and have learned a lot from these threads, but i can't find one to fully answer my question. When i pull circuit boards out of various electronics, toys to computers, should i strip all the components off them or just toss them in a box whole? I do pull memory, heat sinks, processor chips and what not off, but what about the stuff that is saudered? This is for high and low grade boards. Any input would be helpful. Thanks
learn to grade boards. I only remove heat sinks, batteries from high\medium grade boards. Keep your boards whole. Since I don't save low grade boards I remove chips and transformers. Don't degrade your boards.
High and mid grade boards only take the things that are not solder on the board. You can however take the heat sinks off. Low grade would depend on how much your getting paid for your boards. On low grade (brown boards) I take all heat sinks and IC chips and any steel off and leave everything else. Some people take transformers off because they get more for the transformers than they do for the boards. If you have a local buyer always check with him first before removing anything.
I have no local buyer for any kind of low grade boards, so they get tossed in with tin/shred (less any higher valued transformers, heatsinks, etc, that are easy enough and worth twisting off
Yeah that's was pretty much my main question, other than removing your normal pc components off, if it would be more profitable to pull the Inductors, relays, transformers, IC chips, and batteries off and sell them off by the pound. I guess this question was directed more to low grade boards instead of high grade
low grade boards are just that, in most locales, not worth much. Grab what's worth grabbin to ya, and move it on down the line ; )Quote:

how much do you get for em Mech? All I can do here is mix em in with shred, 6 or 8 cents a pound
If I have a decent load of them then my local yard upped my price to .20 lb. I took a couple of loads along with good stuff to Cleveland also, that's why I said those boards and my power supplies paid for my gas over and back.Quote:
