This mornings find.

Went out to finish breaking down 50 towers I got in yesterday from one of the local yards. Grab a tower that looks and feels complete. All screws still in it so figured no one had been in it. Though it felt like it had an extra power supply rolling around in it. So i zip the screws out lift the cover off and BAMMMMM. No it didn't explode. Inside was a small ingersoll rand air drill. Out of excitement I ran over to the air hose to see if it works and wuala it does.

Head back over to finish the break down and figured there was bound to be things missing from inside because i had already got one pen pro computer in the same load missing the CPU. To my surprise it was complete. Ram still there heat sink still attached look closer and it was a 486 computer. Lifted the heatsink and the 486 chip is still there. The computer is 100% complete plus a **** good air drill.

Now I'm stuck wondering why or how did it get in there. Maybe someone with no knowledge of tools or scrapping opened it up tossed something heavy they could find to make it weigh more and then buttoned it back up. Will never know but they only got .20 per pound for it at the scrap yard so they sold it for less than a dollar.

As far as im concerned I am the owner. I must have misplaced it there many years ago and just happend to buy it back

I was about due for a decent hard drive. Best until now was a few 160GB sata. Pulled a 500GB sata drive out of a tower havent tested it yet but hoping the luck continues. So far ive got a few intel pentium ceramics, Amd ceramics, a gold top pentium ceramic and the 486. Also one lightscribe dvd burner and a nice chunk of gold ram. And very few small socket or chineese boards.

nice find, i like the air drill, ever tried out an air chizel, theyre great for sheet metal or plastic, nice tool to have for scrapping also 3/8 drive air ratchet is a must have in addition to the impacts the 90 degree air ratchet will work in alot of places where the impact cant get saves alot of time on tear downs

Used an air chizel for 6 years popin gas tanks scrapping autos. NEVER EVER use electric tools to pop tanks. Also did a lot of mechanic work and the air ratchets are a life/time saver

Never cut gas tank straps with a grinder or torch. Learned that one the hard way when one detonated, there were alot of contributing factors that led to the small explosion: open fuel system, lack of ventilation and incorrect tools used. Bottom line: lesson learned. Its not worth your life to save 5 minutes. Luckily the explosion/fire remained in the tank, it only had a couple gallons in it because i had already siphoned out the tank.

That's where I left my air drill!!! LOL
