Solar power workshop

Hi to all I am going to convert a outdoor shed to a solar power workshop for scrapping.
I will be using a 4000 watt inverter , eight 60 watts solar panels 9 220ah 12 volts for my battery bank.

my shop's all solar powered too! When the sun comes up it turns on the heat and lights. Sun goes down, it's lights out!

You are the man! my shop was like yours, but I also want power and lights at night, but that sun sleeps at night... LOL

I have some rooms on the far end the house that wasn't being used, so I've started moving my computer operations into one of them to at least get out of the weather. Got power and lights back there but not heat, and that's a problem in the winter, on calm sunny days it's actually warmer outside most of the day

Hey opt, I can't see your video but that would be a really cool deal. Being Nebraska you might also consider ways to get some wind power going in with it too

You can also go to firstontop com click on the motorcycle and click on the youtube video and click on the 8 videos and you can get to it.

yeah, i live so far out in the sticks we don't even get grand ol opry on the radio. Dialup and satellite are my only options, and satellite bills are out of the question ; )

I feel your pain, Bear. I'm in the same boat you're in with the dial-up thing. I've learned to ignore videos and anything with alot of pictures gives me time to go make a sandwich and get a drink!

Thats a cool project OTP57, and a great cause. I looked at both the solar project, and the solar cells photo series, but didn't see the origin of the basic components. Do you buy those parts to start with in making the solar cells?
I was talking to a cousin not long ago, and he mentioned some solar cells could be purchased in bulk for like a $100 and then assembled into panels which could then be sold for 3-400 $ Maybe I should have asked more info

Ebay is one way of getting parts to build panels but selling them for $300 to $400 each will be very hard because the price is dropping on panels
HF sell panels that WORKS and the price is very hard to beat, check youtube.
You can buy two HF kits and get 90 watts of solar and 4 light two charging units in a kit for under $260 if you get the disconts.

Solar power does save money..Plenty of sunshine will be able to generate enough electricity so it is nice way to solve energy problems..
