Probably simple for some of you. but I have no idea what this is. The whole thing weighs 31.5 pounds. The transformer inside weighs 21 pounds. Thanks.

Kind of looks like a big power inverter, what kind of hook-up's (plug-in's) are on the ends?? That alum. looks to be a heatsink.
kind of looks like a sodium ballast from the side... like one of these:
Amazon.com: Xtrasun BAS400A 400-Watt Xtrasun Sodium HPS Ballast: Patio, Lawn & Garden
The whole exterior is extruded aluminum but i don't think it was intended to act as a heat sink. There are no plug-ins. there is a wire that goes in from each end (they were cut off) and attaches to the transformer.
Its an inverter is my guess.
camper inverters are different looking and doesnt have circuit breaker
Whatever it is, I got two of them. Nice - each has six pounds of extrusion and a 21 pound transformer that I figure will give out five pounds of copper.
Sounds more like what I have always called a step down transformer. A small transformer alongside a big transformer. Its like running 110 or something off a 250 kva transformer. They are usually steel though.
