Was browsing Thrifty Nickel/American Classifieds and came across an ad for a tool to remove copper from motors.
How to use
Seems like it would work okay.
It's a bit simpler than the idea I've been mulling over for building a copper puller.
Not sure I would pay $60 for it though. Wouldn't take very long to weld up a few pieces of scrap.

Neat, but wouldn't pay it. I cut both ends off with grinder and set the middle up on 2x4's and just tap the rest out with a screw driver that I had cut the tip off to make it a blunt head punch.
An easy thing to use as a punch instead of buying one is to use one of the 4 bolts that hold the sides of the motor on. They are perfect for punches and you get 4 with each motor. I discovered this when I needed a smaller punch than I had. Hope this helps one of y'all if you find yourself in a bind.

i found a nice size punch to be a fan rotor. has a bulky part for a handle, and fits right through most small motors
what is he describing by "ply up."
"All you have to do is take some of the wire and put it in the groove in the pliers and squeeze down on the wire to ply up."
I think he meant "pry up", but in the picture the wire is already out so I am not sure what the point is.
I have done the punch method. Usually end up getting it stuck and spending more time using visegrips and a hammer to pound it back out.
You can do the same thing with a $4 aluminum framing square, and dont need all that other non sense(Maybe on the big big motors)......
