How would you classify these boards?

Hey all, thanks for reading my post. I was wondering how you would classify the following boards? I am loading up some 4ft x 4ft x 4ft bins full of E-scrap and I'm trying to sort as best I can to minimize the sorting my buyer has to do.

For this photo, I see that it has a lot of IC chips and some expansion slots, telecom or toss this in with my motherboards?

This is the front of the board and the next picture is the back. I think its high-grade but do you think they should go with any particular pile, are they close in value to backplanes, mobo's, telecom, etc?

What kind of board is this? In This particular photo the board is missing several IC chips, what about boards that have the IC chips?

all of it motherboard grade, 3rd pic on the backside of the board i see a solid gold plated area approx 2"x8" can you confirm? if so that piece alone of that board is worth about $10-$20 on its own as a single sided solid plated trimming. I also see 3 ic's with stickers on them and a lot of removable ics in the top pic, peel a label off and see if you see a window on it. You can remove the ics without downgrading the board. IC chips are going for $6-$10 per pound so definetly worth removing. Worth more if you see gold in the window.

Thanks, I am unsure if that is gold plated or not, I'll check on that tomorrow. Unfortunately the picture doesn't do a very good job of showing the row of gold plated pins on the front in the top right or the back, located in the same area as that potentially gold plated spot.

I thought maybe that board (2nd/3rd pics) went for more because of the gold pins and the eight small gold squares on the backside.

yep with gold plated pins and solid gold plating on one side i would definetly cut that out and sell it off separately, i hate to recommend downgrading a board but in this case its definetly worth it, i think you will be able to still sell it at the full mixed motherboard price

Looks like a copper plating to me

I was curious if the e waste buyer that buys the boards and chips ic chips or what not the chips you pry off.. if they buy them both why may I ask is it that you should pry them off and not downgrade the board, is there a board that will be down graded if you take them off? thanks.

the board in the top pic is an 8086, probably worth around $60-$80 if it works on ebay, so dont pry chips off of that one

If you remove any chip, connector..etc from a board you are down grading it. For example any boards we purchase if they have been canabolized in any way they are valued at $1.00 or less.

As for the values of the boards in the pictures .
Picture 1 = a 486 board with a reatil value of $3.25lb
Picture 2&3 = Pci server platform with a retail value of $2.50lb
Picture 4 = Canabolized pci server platform with a retail value of $1.00lb

Removing anything from a board other then heavy attachments, steel or plastic is removing value from the board and is devaluating the board. if you dont seperate out any boards that you removed items from then you are basically frauding your buyer. Eventually he will notice.

It depends on the buyer and how they want the boards. As far as removing ic chips that are not soldered to the board I have never had a board downgraded if there are empty spots. Now if other chips are removed like the n/s bridge chips or soldered ic then i agree with downgrading a board. I have gotten 8088, 8086 boards where the caps were shot or leaked and the owner pulled the chip to use on another board.

And I have never had one upgraded if I left the removable ic chips in place. Mike
