Today sucked-bad rain-Things I can work on when it's raining.

I am working on a list of things I could be doing while it's raining.


Places I can call and offer free pick up services for removal of scrap...

Plumbers---hot water heaters
Fencing companies
Auto shops-offer $$ for 1/2 barrel/full barrel of metal parts they can save (I have several shops already-want more)
Real Estate Agencies/Apt/Leasing brokers to get trash haul offs from evictions etc.
Apt complexes
Research Commercial places that are remodeling...we have done a Lowe's, couple of Blockbusters and a gas station...got all the metal shelving free for removal.

Work on break down of anything set aside to take to scrap yard.
Other ideas??

make up fliers hit craigslist or my favorite bring yards luinch and negotiate for better prices on next loads

Good idea to take lunches to peeps on a rainy day...I like that.

i do it alot on the other side i can watch my guys to see how they are in the yard remember pizzas are cheap and sandwich platters go a LONG way

Burger kings are changing displays to digital, old sheet and or painted extruded

Gatorades help out on hott days :)

My cousin and I were sliding bathtubs into his truck in the rain as few days ago. Then we got to the yard and ferrous was $150 a ton. The yard was deserted - I guess other scrappers just had more sense!

BTW, they weren't the nice clawfoot tubs that we could have resold for $250 - just in case someone wants to point that out, I'll save them the trouble. The were the built-in type found in a lot of old buildings.

I like to smash the built in ones in place, easier loading!!

I agree with this 100%. When doing junk removal, real estate management companies, residential/commercial brokers, and real estate investors are your BEST friends!

Most of the time I have some stuff I need to work on inside so if my knee and or back are out or it is raining I can still work.
