I am in the process of going through a bunch of telecom & networking items I scored and listing some items locally for sale. I was contacted by an individual seeking to buy anything Cisco. Are Outdated Cico items in high demand, or is there something special about them(higher gold content?) Anyone got the scoop?
Most Cisco equipment can be resold for more than scrap value just because people want the equipment to use. The same goes usually for Adtran T-1 routers also. You can sell to someone who is going to install the used equipment for a customer of theirs. I have my eye on a Cisco router right now at a customer that in a few more weeks I can take out and resell.
You can get more on ebay. Just keep in mind that it needs to be priced accordingly. If it is really old, dont expect much for it. Recently I've dealt with unrealistic sellers that think their equipment is priceless just because they paid through the nose for it 5-10 years ago. Technology gets outdated fast and the antique computer market is not thriving.

I have some Cisco server fans. ( New in the box) model #'s and more info. Anyone feel free to inbox me of course a birdog fee would apply to any fruitful endeavors.
We buy a lot of Cisco for our customers. What do you have exactly?

It's real easy to find out what they are worth, just look up the model on ebay. Some are worth nothing, but I have sold several for over $1-2K. It helps also if you can build/buy a terminal - serial cable and capture the boot sequence for the buyer.
Ebay is like scrapping. If you just take the easy way out you will get the bare minimum for your items... if you put a little time, effort and research into your item you may be able to get much more for it then you would otherwise.
+1...Agree totally w/wdaddy on the eBay comment. If I come across something that "may" be vintage, or if it's something I think will remotely have a chance on ebay....I'm researching. Not just with cisco items, but many. Heck, I picked up a Samsung DLP for free...tore it down....and after a little bit of time researching, I was able to get buy it now bites of $50 for the light engine and $35 for the main/analog board. No way in the world would that have pulled anywhere close to that even at high grade price. Just so long as your research includes what your total profit will be after fees. For me? I'll take $75 for something I got free anyday!Quote:
