My first scrapyard run
Since I started doing this I have mainly been just sending in all my e-scrap and letting the steel cases and stuff stack up in my shed. Today I loaded up as much as I could fit in my truck to make room for more stuff and made my first trip to the yard. I ended up with 820 pounds of shred at .11/lb which was more than I was expecting. I did learn my yard pays irony aluminum for hard drives unless they are fully broken down. I was expecting dirty aluminum so I learned what they want and will do better next time. It was a 25 dollar lesson but I didn't feel like bringing it home.

Irony alum and dirty alum are the same by me, what did they wan't you to do to make them different? Anw what was the price difference?
-
Wish I was getting .11/lb for shred. Good Job

I hope the brice of shred by me goes up to .11, I got .09 yesterday. Take the board off those hard drives and by the cover if it's ss the rest you can ether strip all the way down if you have time to get clean cast or throw the whole thing in as dirty cast.

Yeah I take the board off all of them and thought I would get dirty aluminum price which was .45/lb today. Instead I got .12/lb. I asked the scale guy what was irony aluminum and he said that's what hard drives go for. I said i thought it was dirty aluminum and he said it wasn't. I'll ask the yard owner I know him from church and find out the difference.
I dont know what constitutes dirty aluminum there but it like it wasn't even a choice. It was either irony aluminum or cast if I broke it down.

it's your stuff so if your not happy with the price then take it back.

If I had been that unhappy I would have been. I said in the original post that it was a learning experience. I was just answering questions that people asked here. I also said I didn't feel like bringing it home.

oh, I read that yesterday and forgot
