so i took apart about 30 tvs 3 days ago and just took the cones off and threw them in a box. needed money quick and didnt have time to break them down so i took them in and expected elec motor price. well my stuff gets weighed and i walk up to get my ticket. i had like 10lbs insulated 15lbs alum and 25ish lbs in "elec motor". ticket was 65$. i was like what?! looked and got dirty alum (2.10/lb). so idk if my non ferrous guy messed up or maybe ya'll should ask your yard about it. just a thought.
I had "dirty" copper. They were heavy copper bars from a transformer. Had a bit of tar that I got most of it off. Got 25 cents a lb for it. Didn't catch it till I got home. Always look at your receipt to see what games they're playing.
Seems like you did great to me. Where I am insulated copper is $1.70 Alum. is $.40 and motors are $.25 so for your load I would have got $17 for the copper $6 for the alum. and $6.25 for the motors. So whats that $29.25Quote:

As Idaho said always check the ticket before you get home. It's never a problem for the guy at my yard to correct a honest mistake but it's a lot easier to do it there on the spot before you get home
I don't have to clean all the glue off the yokes but I try to get as much as I can off.
