So I have a coax cable that was severed by wind from a storm, and I'd like to reconnect it myself. Having said that, I don't have any special coax tools of any sort.
Surely there's a way to reconnect them (kit from RadioShack?) without too much hassle?
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

GO to home depot radio shack what evera nd buy the coax stripping tool and crimping tool. THen buy yourself some ends and a couple of barrel conectors and get some scrap line cause your going to need a patch piece. Dont scimp on cheap ends or crimping tool. You get what you pay for when it comes to those things. If its an outside line your going to want to get the waterproof ends and barrel conectors as well. Or put an ad on CL in your area for a tech to come do it for you and offer to pay like 30 bucks cash. I bet they would do it for that after work one day and you will spend at least that in tools and parts. No real easy quick way to fix coax that I know of.
First check to see what size coax you need to fix. I am assuming this is for cable tv so it is likely to be rg-6 or rg-59. You will need to get a new F-connector to attach to the end of the cable. For the price of paying someone to fix it you could purchase the tool and do it yourself. If it is outside it would probably be best to get a compression style connector and installation tool. You can use a utility knife to strip the cable. You should be able to find many videos on you tube showing how to install an f connector on coax.Quote:
