From trash to silver

If I made one mistake , it's been to not buy 1 oz of silver per week from some of my proceeds I make each week . But now I make sure of it (to buy silver) . It matters not the price of silver as - first scrap is - - - - - ok enough said about that . Second More or less scrap prices seem to flow with silver prices give or take , so long as you can put a little aside for a silver eagle from some Short Steel it's all good .
That being said I should have 182 ounces of silver ranging from a purchase price
of a low of $24 to $42 per oz in the last 3 1/2 years . Now if I had done that my silver stash would be at a loss , but I would rather have that shiny loss in my closet then the countless times I spent money with no memory and nothing to show for it

So with that said - I want to sell all my computer Boards Mem CPU's for the purpose of purchasing silver . I like silver as it comes in as a nice round coin with set weights and market price. Is gold is a better choice ?

I think silver is better. Gold price is inflated. I'm not sure if it will pop soon or what but I keep and buy silver. In the past it has always been that an ounce of gold is worth 30 ounces of silver. Gold price nowadays is almost double that so according to history gold is overpriced and due to pop. Just my take on the whole situation.

Gold and silver seem to trend in the same direction. I would pay off any debt (credit cards or other high interest loans) you have before investing in any metals. Also remember you pay a premium over spot for coins and you sell under spot so there is a spread that hurts more when dealing in silver coins compared to gold coins, silver should be purchased in stamped bricks.

actualy the historic average of silver to gold is 14 to 1 if memory serves me corerectly.

Historic average ratio of silver to gold is in the 14-16 to 1 range. So either gold is waaaay overpriced right now, or silver is a steal. Historically, gold also sells for less than platinum. Right now, gold is worth more than platinum. So, my opinion, fwiw, is that gold is overpriced.

Also, unless you can purchase gold in full ounce bars/rounds, the premium will kill you. The biggest ripoff in bullion is the markup - and the markup on fractional gold is way too high.

Another thing to consider, if TSHTF, no one is going to be able to make change for your gold bar. That's why I like silver - about half of what I buy is in 1 oz form (American Eagles, Canadian Maples, Austrian Philharmonics) and half in "junk" silver. I would love to get some Chinese Pandas, Australian Kookaburras or Kangaroos, Mexican Libertads, Russian Georges or English Britannias - but my local coin shop never gets any in. :(

CopperHead , my brother and i have been doing this for the past 6 years he got into it a little sooner when the price was way low i got into buying maybe 3 years ago. my uncle has been buying for the past 30 years... ranging from silver bullion to silver coins pre 1964. hes the one that got me CRH! I'm still young no married and live at home but its a perfect long term investment for when the time come for a wife, kids and whatever else pops up in life.

Ps .did you know rubbing your hands through pure silver bullion for a few seconds kills all the bacteria better then an antibacterial soap or hand wash!!!! lol

I should have said the past 5 years. Anyway the 15 to 1 average shows even better that gold is inflated. I get rid of escrap as fast as I can. I would even go to say that copper is a better short term investment than gold. Not those billion rounds (those are a waste of money) just scrap copper.

More proof to the true unique value of silver

Not to say gold and copper don't have qualities but there is no replacing all these metals with plastics and bonding components

The ancient Romans knew about silvers anti bacterial properties, they used silver staples to bind war wounds closed (staples instead of stitches came back into use a while ago).

I mentioned putting a portion of what you make from scrapping somewhere else, but yeah,
scrapping isn't your airy fairy 9-5 job is it? it's reasonably hard work if you put the hours in,
instead of spending all the money from scrapping, putting at least 10% in silver is a smart choice.

I think the argument of whether people can afford to buy your gold or silver if shtf has already been proved,
sure you wouldn't be going to the market to buy a pig with a 1kg gold bar as you won't get change,
but you can buy land, tractors, cows & helicopters with gold bars, casinos would put you up in a 5 star penthouse suite
for a couple gold bars in hard times, with all the bells and wistles too, you can watch the madness & looting from your balcony.

I don't think gold is worthwhile unless you can afford to sit on 300+oz
any less then that, you may aswell stack silver, so that probably means most of us.
yeah I love my fractionals, I'm hooked on 1/10oz scotsdales and alternate between 2 tubes of 50
and a 10oz coin or bar, that way I level the overall cost of my silver out in between the two prices.

I don't see anything wrong with keeping some of your scrapped pm's though, I think brass & #1 copper is worth stacking
just like silver, I just have a feeling we'll see $12lb copper before $60oz silver, but that's just my opinion.
since it's free and you can control exactly what you keep, why not? your just gonna sell it to a yard that will do just that.
I keep the copper wire from inside the yolks, not the two bits around ferrite, the two bits inside that you can take out cleanly.
I'm stacking them, aluminium heat sinks, the real fancy ones, the platinum disks from hard drives, the magnets,
all have awesomeness about them and very stackable next to my silver stack.

buying silver is an excellent money manager for me, i'm hopeless with money, can't spend it quick enough.
so silver is a good decoy.

Eventually copper and brass do take up room - but that is one of my quandaries - that copper & brass have qualities that could be of importances not to be underestimated . The thing about copper hitting $12 though what will a gallon of milk cost and so on . silver is easy to carry but diversifying has always been the safest choice.

For me metals starting at copper are good decoys but I sell off my AL as fast as i can get it heat sinks and all .

I do the same thing with my scrap money, since I do not need it to live on. I probably go to more extremes though. I wait until I have $1000 saved up, then purchase my silver. Any purchases in Texas for precious metals from a thousand dollars and up there are no taxes, so that $86 I would have spent in taxes goes into silver. My purchases have varied from $13 an ounce to $45 an ounce. Have taken a hit on some, but I am in it for the long run. I have purchased 5 & 1 ounce bars, and silver dollar, half, quarter and dime junk silver, just to have a variety. I currently have about $500 face in junk silver and about 100 ounces in bullion. All in a safe deposit box.
