Newer Inkjet Printer Boards - Small open copper capacitors?

Hello all - maybe someone can help me... I've been scrapping down a lot of newer inkjet printers. They are actually not TOO bad ( minus all the plastic! :mad: ) - I get keypads with gold contacts, good motherboards, small lcd screens and network cards I can resell on Ebay.. Anywho - came across some boards that have these small capacitor looking like things...
See the red arrows pointing to them? So, are those capacitors? If not, what are they??

Also, wondering if it's worth my time to unwind and ball up? It took me a total of 3-5 minutes and I got a nice lil copper ball weighing at 5.4 grams...
I'm sure I can get faster at unwinding them..

I call them chokes or coils but the actual name is an inductor.

Thanks Mech!... I feel like a goober for not looking at that thread :o - it's a sticky for petes sake! I've gone through a lot of identification threads and never saw a picture of those dang inductors.. *goes to corner - puts dunce cap on*

I get printers by the truck load (pick-up) and have never found a mother board in a printer (low and mid grade only) What do you do with the LCD screens, I've don't know anybody thet buys them.

i found some copper coils yesterday that a screwdriver fit nicely into, and just pulled the wire off of them ever so easily, just like pulling the line from a fishing reel

(be sure and pull the quarter off that board, it's likely the most valuable part. i've never found one like that!)

Me and my husband buy lots of printers - resell the good ones on ebay and scrap the bad ones. The printers we get aren't old school inkjets (those don't have jack in them), but with the newer models having touchscreens, lcds, wireless network cards you can either resell those as parts or scrap them for whatever you can get.. I'm saving up the lcd screens and network cards, and even some of the bezels/face plates to get a good stock going.. I'll list some on ebay and see how they do..I'll go from there once I get there..

HAH! Thanks Bear :rolleyes:.. I've actually found a few coins in a couple printers before..So I guess I have found some like that. ;)

Happy some laser printers and other more "office/commercial" style printers have slot processors and ram.

Yeah we should be getting a load of lasers here pretty soon. I've always liked laser printers better anyways - sell fast and scraps some what decent.. I haven't gotten into any newer model lasers so hopefully this next lot will be just that and I'll get to play.. :)

omg yes i get loads and loads of printers they are a small fortune that pays for the gas in my car to do other pick ups i save some parts and sell the others but ya i average depending on how old but 0.75-$3.25 off each one more if working and more off parts but no real average yet that copper does add up save it for a yr and buy yourself a steak dinnner for all that work its a great reward
