Day after huge storm
We just had a huge storm that came blowing through with winds as high 80 mph. CL has a lot of people advertising scrap metal available with glass tables that are shattered and gazebo's that are destroyed. Didn't know if anyone went out after storms to help clean up.

After a storm a honest good working scrapper can get his names out to alot of people. But acting shady after a storm can get you black listed fast as well.

Finally getting back to normal here after that storm. We just got the electric back today after being out for the past week plus dealing with the temperatures. Now to get busy catching up on here!

I echo what Dune said x10. On my sandbar we get some damaging storms from thunderstorms to hurricanes. What Dune said is the truth. Great way to get your name out if your an honest hard working scrapper. Great way to get blacklisted, rep ruined, etc if your a fly by night scam artist, thief or jerk off.
For example..When Irene came barreling through my sandbar last year, the sound side (west side) got brutalized. NO other way to put it. Sound had the water sucked out then rushing back in, destroyed alot of homes sound side. We had tons of out of area people come down, with that group I'd say 75% were of the honest, do good, scrapper kind of people. The others..jerks, aholes, and scam artists an thiefs. We had people driving by houses grabbing what ever they could grab. Whether at the curb, in the yard, on a deck/porch, or in a garage. It was rather disturbing. I won't even get to the jerks who came down an ripped people off on rebuilding homes, etc.
So yea, good idea to do so, just make sure the stuff your taking is for taking an not out for storm related reasons. With irene people had to put stuff near the curb line for the insurance folks, an such.
Sorry for the novel. :P

Dun and Sirscrapalot, very well put. I don't go out of town to get to storm damaged areas, I'll wait till a storm comes through my area and then take care of my people and I'll have all the work I can handle. Sorry Dune I misspelled your name.

I did do quite a bit of scrapping in the area this week. Got calls everyday expect for the 4th. Mostly trampolines and metal sheds. Didn't really have time to go looking for anything.

Best not to rush in and look like a vulture

I heard on the radio that a couple individuals got caught trying to take downed power lines. I can't even imagine how much copper that would be and most downed lines have power.

A couple years ago a town close to where I live was totally destroyed by a tornado. That night there were atleast 3 tornados in the area. Anyways there was tons of debris everywhere for miles. whole farms were gone. This happened before I really got into scrapping. It was sad to see all the devistation but it was a scrappers paradise.
