Deep cycle batteries
Yesterday I scrapped an electric wheelchair that was beyond repair. It had been sitting in a dilapidated shed and had been exposed to the elements for quite awhile.
The wheelchair had two deep cycle batteries that I salvaged. Can these be reused or are they done? How can I test them? I'm thinking getting a solar panel sometime and wonder if there is a way that these can be used. Thanks in advance for answers.

take them to auto store and see if they'll test them, some even offer free charging(they must be charged to test)

Hi Scrapette... I, myself, would definitely try to resurrect these kind of batteries. There's more than a little gloom and doom element to my thinking given what could happen in Europe. I always grab those LED yard light thingies; I figure all I need are some little ni-cad batteries and a panel of the yard lights... put them out during the day and bring them in at night... voila! Light :) Probably more information than you needed.

If they do end up working, and you decide not to keep them they have excellent resale value to full time rv'ers (people who live, travel and work in rv's year round) for house batteries.
Sirscrapalot - Has plans to become such a full timer in a couple years.

those chairs usually have a charger with them, I can't recall if it's separate or built in. I wonder what happened to it? (I hope you didn't scrap it ; )
