Rip my father...
Please I know I been a ******* at times on the forum, but please put me in your thoughts and prayers. My father passed away as of thursday at the age of 54. His name was Richard D. I wont put the last name in unless pm. If anyone here drove truck from the 80's to 2000's then you might know him. His handle on the radio was the one and only rock n' roll. Well he is gone, may god send him to the light and grant him safe journey.
Just a bit of history. He was parked in a truck stop mid 2000. Some idiot rookie fresh out of the trainers truck, slammed into him while he was sleeping. He got up to blow the air horn to alert other drivers. Well the idiot tried running, which rocked the truck, and he fell backwards into the gear shifter or something. It caused massive damage to his back which resulted in a bunch of surgeries to the point he was on high pain medication. Could not move around good, etc. He was really suffering bad and I thought he was dying. He even said he was. It took maybe 5 years after the accident to get his disability to only die a year or so later.
At least he his out of pain and misery. Hopefulyl he is in a better place and peaceful.
Btw...last thought. He is still here whether your superstitious, religious, etc. My mom just called this am. We both were crying and as soon as I got off the phone, the living rooms flickered off and on 2-3 times. This apt has brand new 200 amp service with wiring, so there is no reason for flickering lights. So I think he made it to the light, to heaven, and is watching out for me and family.
Thanks for listening. If anyone here drove for Kat Inc, Calex, or North America, then you should know him.
May god rest ya soul Dad. Im sorry for all the mean things I ever said or did, and wish I could have corrected them before you passed. I hope your not mad at me and know i love you.
Ps. At least he died at home in his bed with his tv, wife, and bottle of brandy. Thats the way to go........

RIP to your old man. I made up with my old man after not really talking to him for years difference of opinion over scrap. I had a kid and realized I had to bury the hatchet so he could enjoy being a grandpa. No sense in crying over spilled milk. Sorry for the loss.

So sorry for your family's loss. He was so young to go now, it reminds all of us not to waste time over petty differences, Mike.

Was an otr driver for quite a few years. I well know of the dangers and how people (businesses) can be ungrateful. i believe your correct about the lights. May he rest in peace.

May your father rest in peace, we all have been through these upsetting times and will be there again. It doesn't mean it makes it easier though. I know you would have liked to have said more and to have taken away any bad things you think you might have said but it probably didn't matter. He knew. All my best wishes and thoughts.

my family sends our condolences, and may God soon heal the pain in your heart, and fill the empty spot in your life..

Ozzy, I know what you've went thru and it's not ever easy, but time will heal the pain, and you'll never forget the great/good times. I've lost a brother, dad, stepdad, then my mom so I've already been there. You and the family are in our thoughts and prayers,
(That's one list that keeps getting longer too)

I'm sorry for your loss Ozzy.
Lost my dad in 95, he was 50...this past Sept I lost my mom, she was 65.
Mechanic688 is right, only time helps, you never forget.
After my dad passed we had trouble with the smoke alarm going off around 4:00 am every morning (right around the time he died), even replaced the smoke alarm, and the new one did the same thing. This went on for about a month, along with the TV & turning itself on, and then just stopped...so yeah, I believe in something although not sure what.
He's probably trying to tell you he's okay.

So sorry oz, i dread the day my parents die.
In 2007, the day after my last day of highschool, a man who was more of a brother to me than my own passed away at the age of 33. His funeral was the day of my graduation. I hate my grad pic, all I see is the pain on my face.
I picked up his S10 Blazer from the head of his estate for $200. On my b-day me and my buddy were bombing around some back roads in it. My buddy fell asleep, and about 20 mins later the strongest scent of cigarette smoke filled the truck, then was gone. Neither one of us smoked, and even tho he did the truck NEVER smelled like it. I like to believe it was a happy birthday.

You and your family have my condolences.

I'm so glad that you felt comfortable enough to share your pain with us Ozzy. I, too, believe that the flickering lights were a communication just for you, because I've heard so many similar stories. I hope it brought you a little comfort, but I know it is still hard. I will be praying for you and your family, and I hope you can forgive yourself for not telling him all you wish you had. Like someone else said...he knows.

So sorry for your loss , may he RIP ,
