Any of yall ever have vertigo?

I do. Apparently it runs in my family, both sides. This week will be my 4th week suffering with BPPV (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo). Basically, i can't turn my head side to side, up, or down without getting extremely dizzy. Standing up, sitting down, bending over to pick anything up, laying down to go to bed, rolling over in bed, and getting out of bed. All of that sucks.

It makes it hard to get on the computer too. The screen messes with my eyes, which screws with my inner ears, which makes me dizzy. I'm taking Dramamine II for the nausea, and Antivert to ATTEMPT to control the dizzyness.

It's all but ruined my mood. Needless to say i've been extremely hard to get along with these past few weeks. I was forced to take the first week off when it hit me. I couldnt do anything but sit down with a blanket over me, and my eyes closed. I've been able to somewhat work these last couple weeks. Definitely not my normal 12 hour days. More like 6 hours. I throw up every day because of this **** vertigo crap. It's not great.

The person i'm sharing my shop with, lost a large contract (he does construction, his biz aint yalls so i wont go into it). He got this shop because of the contract. Now that he's lost it, i'm screwed. If they dont figure a way out to underbid this other company then my rent goes from low, to just over $600 a month, just for the shop.

With all this going on, i'm almost not fit to talk to man nor beast. Hell i can't even drink, makes the vertigo THAT much worse.

    /vent

Sorry to hear that man. As for vertigo, from what you describe, I can't say I have ever had it. However, lately I have something weird going on. I have fuzzy hearing and my balance is off.

Sometimes I wonder if the metals we are handling is f*&king with us.

Wonder why it now showed up for you?

Maybe that dolls gave it to you

im just kidding ive had a lot of health issues the past few years and its a hard transition, it will all work out somehow try not to stress out it doesnt help or change anything. i was the sole provider of family when a roll of carpet dropped off my truck snapped my tibia and fibia to the point of coming out of my skin. I didnt feel it so I tried to walk to start my job, well that didnt work. i was self employed so no state disability or work mans comp. i had no money or income that how i got on welfare. i was in the hospital for a week surgery and complications. i couldnt walk for 8 months. but thats not my point i thought i was going to be destistute/ homeless i never had been not working for 20 years i was lost. but im in college to learn something easier since i also have an auto immune diease Ra thats is a positive. i stopped eating 30 norco(viccodin) a day so im way closer with my family. Keep your head up because thing will get better maybe not vertigo but you will learn how to deal with it. And doctors told me a good attitude helps with these situations. so just do your best and i have a feeling you will survive.

Look up the Epley Maneuver and Brandt-Daroff Exercises...the Epley is usually done by a Dr. and makes you extremely dizzy in the process (I've been too chicken to try that one).

The Brandt-Daroff Exercises do help (anyways they always help me), but can make you feel worse for awhile when it's severe (I usually get a killer of an earache too from them).

Yep, it sucks, big time. Like being drunk without the benefit of the buzz.

    Feel better Hoss.

Wow that sucks. Is this something that comes in bouts? I know nothing about it, but it sounds really bad.

    Wikipedia on it:

Changes in weather, sometimes a sharp head movement, looking up, head cold, seem to make it worse for me.

I have it to a slight degree all the time, basically I don't look up at planes without holding on to something or I can end up flat on my back in the yard. Looking up for me is not good.

Curbside, it's good to have someone else here that understands how chitty it is. It makes working pertnere impossible.

I've tried to Epley about 4 times. 3 times with the doctor, and once at home. It did not help, at all.
