Gold mine development

An interesting article on a gold mine being developed in northern Ontario. The company is spending $1.45-billion to open a mine yielding 1 gram of gold per tonne of ore. (Reserves are estimated at 15.6 million ounces.) I would think if the big boys are spending this kind of money, precious metal recovery/recycling has a pretty good future.

that's a mighty low grade ore! i wonder why they don't open homestake back up ? i worked in that mine one winter back in 76

Ever hear of Tony Beets?

Googled him. Came up with a clip from the Discovery Channel's gold mining reality show. He seems to be doing well - 220 oz. in one week according to this clip. Cool accent as well. Lots of Dutch people around here.

Isn't The Homestake in Colorado? the reason I ask is that Colo. is my home state,and as my pop was a P.E.&L.S. we did ALOT of surveying all over the state,I also noticed you're located in Okla., as I am also, but in '76 I was in Gunnison Colo.
Man do I miss those mountains ,the tons of snow ,etc. Any how just caught my eye,catch ya on the flip side.

Hey Lucky, I never saw your question until now. Homestake was in Lead-Deadwood South Dakota. All the TV stations there then were out of Denver though
