    craogs list: all kidding aside

ya i know there is already a couple of threads. but this is a more searious note. We go to craigs list to tru to find a bargin. some times we do but mostly we dont. I just spent an hour there and at first got a kick out of the guy with the 2000 toyita pickup with the blown motor, and the brand new tires that have been sitting in the dirt in the back yard sence 04 for $750, dents torn seats and all. that add was closely followed by a 2002 streach Lincoln limo runs perfict in perfict shape for $1000 or hes foung to take it to the scrap yard.

Loke I said first I got a kick out of it and wished I had the grand for the limo, then it struck me, this is a micri cism if exactly what is wrong with America today, people have list all common sence. it seems few of us have any sence of reality left. just my .02

Well Olddude I would tend to agree with you on this one....The wife and I were recently in the market for another vehicle and we spent days on Craigslist trying to find something in our price range. But it seems everytime I clicked on something that looked good I was disappointed. It always ended up something like "This is a great car, runs great, power everything but the transmission is out...Only $2500!"

Gets pretty discouraging. Not to mention the fact that just about everyone is mentioning scrap price in their vehicle related Craigslist ad...."Don't lowball me because I can get XXX for scrap" Drives me up a wall!

We've been lucky enough to get a couple od good vehicles on Clist this past year but it took weeks of always checking the new posts and finally the stars came into alignment and were the first to get there. Olddude ur right, not much common sense these days...Some people's kids!

Now, I see this stuff all the time. We've discussed this in these forums before... How can you justify mocking someone who wants a grand for a limo, or whatever, when all you see is junk, when at the same time you DEMAND that extra penny a pound for junk low grade boards? What you think is worthless is someone else's "gold". We've discussed how some people will only pay 200 for a car, yet other guys have no problem paying 500 out here?

I go to a certain gas station here. There is another one right across the street. Always a penny, if not two pennies cheaper a gallon. I go to the more expensive one. The more expensive one is usually busier. Not in a bad part of town, not a matter of ones crappier than the other. One does have more "things" to it, but that shouldn't lend it to being busier.

We've all bought things that are more expensive than what they are really worth. Some times we can see worth in things that others can't. Doesn't make it a rip off. What does make things a rip off is when OTHERS value things more than what they are. That's what got us in trouble in the economy and housing. OTHERS told us what our houses were/are worth, instead of letting the true form of capitalism value it. Nobody out here can honestly say a Twinkie was/is worth 500 dollars, but you can bet someone out there paid that much for one.

Another point is people saying yards rip them off on the prices they offer for certain metals. To this, I say, they don't rip you off. YOU let them rip you off. You do not have to deal with them, you do not have to sell to them. You can pull your stuff at any time before money exchanges hands. You went to them, they didn't come to you. We have yards here that don't/won't pay for Ferrous, because they don't want it. They don't want to deal with it. Does that mean they are ripping people off? No, they are trying to keep people away on that stuff. But they do pay a pretty penny for brass and aluminum, because they know that stuff. They actually have like a 8 or 9 tier system for pay out on cans. Pretty elaborate.

Just my .02. I'm in a mood today.
