Corned Beef....

Something to think about, St Patrick's day was cancelled this year. We noticed there were corned beef briskets on sale for 1.99/lb. You might want to take the opportunity to pick up one? two? to put in the freezer for a treat a later on this year.

We still had St. Patricks day. Takes more than a little virus to scare us off from Corned Beef and Green Beer.

It may have just been an assumption when I saw the meat coolers empty except for a cooler full of corned beef packages.

Saint Paddy's day is more of an Irish Catholic religious holiday. We don't celebrate it here in Maine. My wife picked it up because it was on sale.

Our grocery supplier temporarily suspended our sales flier promotion program this past week. Some B.S. about us not ordering enough this time of year. More likely ... there's no need to cut prices to draw people in these days. They're practically banging the doors down to get in.

Off topic, but this link provides more information on The Fed's Bazooka Fires you mentioned in another thread. I wonder if we're seeing a run on the bank given that i was doing a 90% cash business yesterday.

It's just fine to buy and stock but make sure not forget to look for the expiry date for better consumption.

The mad rush to stock up has mostly leveled off at our store now. It's was sort of like when there's a wintertime blizzard predicted. Folks shop like crazy in the days leading up to the storm. All goes quiet once the storm hits.

It was similar with this but instead of shopping for a few weeks ... they were laying in supplies to last for a few months or more.

The chest freezer is your friend. It doesn't cost much to operate and the food will keep for a year or more in there. The other thing you might think about is food boredom. Lay in some goodies like canned nuts, candy, and dried fruit for later on. Maybe some beef jerkey ? Some of the dried goods have a pretty long shelf life.

Watch out for...

Finished the 2nd week of our 4 week lockdown today, Its no real difference to me except less visits to the supermarket, less petrol bought & im doing less Sober driving for drunks.
Getting some long put off tasks done too.
Our weathers just changed to autumn/winter, cold winds & the leaves are starting to drop now.

Scrapmetal prices have dropped by nearly 1/3rd, more for Aluminium.

'They' say that the lockdown has made a difference & we will start to see it soon ( as I expected, results are 2 weeks to 20 days after actions taken )
2/5ths of our infected arrived in NZ with it, 2/5ths are group happenings with 1 recent overseas source, & 1/5 are random community Infection, 1080 odd so far with only 1 death.4 critical.
Im glad we did lockdown when we did.
