    Susspended account

For about 10 minutes yesterday I was not able to access the SMF site. All I got was a screen that said my account had been suspended. The page had something that that said I could contact admin for more info and there was a login section for gmail. Nope not falling for that.
Does anyone know what happens when admin sends you "on vacation"? Do you get a message from admin letting you know or do you get a 404 error or something else?

Snowman? anyone? This includes admin also.

I saw the same thing. I'm going to scroll through all the buyers when I get home from work tonight & save the contact info for @PartTimeScrapper & a couple of others.

In fact, I'ma screenshot Terry's right now!

That message was not for you. That message was for the person or entity that runs the SMF site. It could be that the SMF server was hacked and used as a spambot or got corrupted and introduced malware into the server...

It would probably be the same message if whoever runs the site decides to bail and just not run the site anymore. I was a little bummed that I would lose all the people here that I have talked to for years. The site administrators might not like it, and may shut it down, but it might be a good idea if we could share our emails and in the case the site does close(or drops for a day or days), we could get a site up temporarily to be able to talk to each other. Perhaps a message board we could join and have up in case the forum drops again.

I got the same message too. I think it was meant for the site administrator.

Also: Haven't been able to check on SMF during the evenings lately. The site seems to be down.

It would be a shame if the site went completely off line. It's been a really good resource for learning over the years.

If it's a money problem .... Maybe one of the recycling industry advocacy groups would be willing to sponsor it ?

It could also be the hosting servers that cause that issue.

BlueHost shouldn't be down for two days though. That's something with the Admin, or something with a hacker most likely. Which one? Whelp, we'll never know

I was out all day yesterday and got that same page from my phone. When I got home this morning and opened SMF on my laptop it was working fine.

I thought it was the pic I tried to post to get Sirscrapsalots attention. It never posted but was a guy dancing in a American flag Speedo with fireworks going off in the background. Lol

I have noticed it has been down a bunch when I try to access it. So I set this up to track it (and so I could check to see if it was just me or actually down): https://statuspage.freshping.io/10644-scrapmetalforum

Also, I am a software engineer as my day job, if whoever whoever runs this site wants to get it off bluehost and over to AWS or increase the servers capacity or troubleshoot why its going down, I could help! For free! I want this site to stay alive lol

The issue is 100% on the hosting server side of things or a network issue from where it is being hosted. I set up this (just created an account basically) to check if the problem is just me or if the site is actually down. https://statuspage.freshping.io/10644-scrapmetalforum

Unless I read the chart wrong it showed 25 hours of down time in the last week........That seems unacceptable to me

Thanks for the link kss. I set up a ping for my website hosting server. I have never looked and found it unavailable, but it will be nice to know.

Bottom line, admin here needs to get off their @$$ and properly run this site, or hand the reins off to someone who will.

Once again I just had to reboot my computer because of the ""There are no new posts"" issue.

    It's BULL$#!+

You did not read the chart wrong. It is down very frequently. It emails me every time it goes down and I usually check to confirm and it is always accurate so far.

I have in the past. I'm probably pissing in the wind but I know I did what the forum rules said should be done in these situations.

I guess I could whine and cry and sit on my hands, but I'm not.
