    I suspect that the "chemicals" used to retard rot probably have gone through a couple of half-lives and aren't as effective anymore. There's obviously internal rot going on so that the sapling could push it's way up. I wish we could have black cherry grow around here, awesome beauty of a wood! My kitchen cabinets and bathroom storage are cherry wood. I dig it!!
