How to remove rear wheel bearings and seals.

Image one seal removed the hard way, the round steel bar is long enough to reach through the pumpkin spider gears and connect with the backside of the other wheel bearing on the far side.

A few light taps with the heavy sledge, both the bearing and seal pop right out of the housing.

You do not need to use a sledge, just happened to be handy.

Do you think this will work for installing the new bearing.

Place an old bearing onto the axle followed by the new one, tap end of the axle to insert bearing.

Or place the new bearing in the freezer for half an hour then heat the housing up to warm to the touch not sizzle spit hot. New bearing should fall right into place before warming up.

Should I go with plan A or B the freezer.

Go with plan A and B. I always freeze the bearing or heat it depending on the need. The bearings on my toyota press onto the axle. So what I do is poor 90w gear oil into a small cooking pot and heat it on a hotplate outside. Drop the bearing in and let it heat up. The bearing will slip right on the axle without much force at all.
