    Angry #ing Shipping Costs !

I bought a small metal slide cabinet at auction last night that sells on Ebay for over $40

In order to ship the darned thing, it will cost me $90 - $160 !!!

How the # is any small business to make any money with those stupidly high prices ?!
(( and before you comment - LTL shippers are *not* cheaper than UPS/FedEx/USPS in this case ))

I honestly don't know how people sell stuff for less than $10 with free ship on ebay. After the fees and shipping cost you only make $1.
Shipping large items like that can be crazy.

simple...it is not your responsibility to pay for your customers shipping costs. I NEVER do it EVER. I know the whole "you get more bid blah blah"....I never had any issues charging and will continue to do so. THAT BEING SAID, I also know that items with any amount of weight...say 50+ pounds...it just isn't worth it to have to ship for most people.they can get something local for cheaper. The only way it works is for HIGH HIGH profit margin and more expensive items only, that you can sell for significant discounts. This allows the customer to factor in the cost of shipping into the final pricing. Anything heavy needs to be sold locally ONLY...OR...bought in a cheap market and physically taken and resold in a higher priced one. Many pickets do this.

Again, people have differing opinions, but I have always held to the belief that if you are getting the deal (the buyer), then you (the buyer) pays and pays to ship the item. I am not Amazon.

Good luck...try to sell your item locally.
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell

    #ing Shipping Costs !

lol few months ago in wanted to order battle of the bagpipes from a shop in B.C. 20 dollar DVD. 70 dollars to ship it across the country if I remember right. found it free one Internet free last week
win win. but even for us Canadian fellas to order anything from down south amazon or ebay we get screwd with this anywhere in Canada flat rate which is pretty close to 100 bucks. doesn't matter where you live. or if the seller is 4 hours away or 4 days away

For me selling on ebay requires that I am really knowledgeable about shipping. I use the USPS regional boxes alot. I know that since I live on the east coast anything west of the Mississippi often the cost for the regional boxes goes beyond the regular flat rate boxes. 73 Mike

I just plugged your weight and dimensions into an order that I got from PA. Sending from across the country here in CA would be $53 with Fedex.

It's more the size of this than the weight that makes the cost so much, although $53 is reasonable for that. If it was a business address, it would be even cheaper.

I'm not understanding, I'm very tired so forgive me for what may seem like stupid questions.

You bought a cabinet you needed for a decent price.

Did the auction or ebay or wherever you bought it not say anything about how much shipping was going to be?

I plugged these numbers in on fedex and got a rate of 45.41. That us without a fedex account which would probably save you 10 bucks on top of that.

I am confused. If you are in Clearfield County, and the seller is in Dubois, why don't you pick it up? According to google maps that is only 20 miles. Or am I missing something?

Never mind, I figured it out. You bought it at an auction and want to list it on ebay?

There is a "CORE" group of folks here who just "GET IT".....We have flourished and more than likely made a lot of money for ourselves.......The rest usually just languish in mediocrity
