would you try and cut into one of these...

There was something on tv a while back about scrappers sneaking on to miltary bombing ranges to steal scrap. Showed actual video of these guys on the range and then planes coming in dropping ordances. Also showed convoys coming thru the ranges checking for trespassers.

Why would you cut that up is beyond me I would have paid 100X scrap for that to just put it in my front yard panning back and forth

Everyone needs a 5 foot long, 500 pound MK-82 general purpose bomb in their front yard. Helps keep the door to door sales people away and everybody else!

They used a large magnet to come down on top of it and hold it in place until it burned out. I was not there but heard the stories. Gotta wonder what people are thinking of...

As most of you know when you go to the yards, there is a ''do not buy list.'' Admittedly, bombs aren't on the list (who in the hell would'a thought to put them on it??!!) but how could something like that just get dropped off in the first place??
Wouldn't military scrap (IF allowed to be dropped off at a local yard even), have to come with a guarantee its safe to dismantle?? And how the heck did it get past inspection? I mean, initial eyeballing of scrap to be dropped off? I always go to trtucks/vehicles and inspect whats going to be dropped off first, didn't this yard have those same qualifications?

Reading that story in the LA times about the accident in 1997 that killed a scrap yard worker in Fontana. Ca., can't help but conclude, "it has happened again" in Tucson, Ariz. , In 1998 the Department of Defense's Inspector-General acknowledged fault in that accident. Stating: The disposal of explosives "were ineffective" and all range residue should be considered dangerous period and not sold to the public.
Simply sad that it's happened again! I would think bombs would be given a little a higher priority!

the key to dealing with range debris is to deal with it continually so that volume does not get overwhelming and cause people to take shortcuts In Pearl we ran everything (small arms) through a popper ASAP so it became inert Scrap and not range debris

I was walking past a gaylord (chuckles..) at my scrapbuyers and noticed it was full of empty shotgun shells.
The second thing I noticed was a unused one sitting on the top....
I was wanting to find some Brass shotgun cases to make those weird looking ear rings people now wear.
I have made pipes from Brass cases. Theres pics of them here on SMF.
I feel sorry for the family, he looks like a true Red White and Blue, 'Proud to be American' sorta guy. Same age as me.

Yep the guy that dropped of that bomb at current prices made $11.25 on it! Yard I went to today sometimes has a guy help unload stuff, today he looked at everything...

I don't know anything about bombs. I did watch the KGUN9 video, and you guys in Tuscon have some very hot info-babes/reporter-ettes. Nothing like that around here.
