It's been in the 70s here, but we're going to the 90s tomorrow. At least it never gets above 105 degrees here, and there is no humidity. When I went to Kansas City, MO a few years ago, I wilted in their July heat. I know that's nothing compared to the deep south.

Fortunately, we have the mountains. Now, I just need to work out of an old bus up there.

A good place to go if ever here in Southern Cal. and want to escape the heat (want something besides the beach). Head towards Palm Springs (very hot in summer). Take the Aerial Tram up to San Jacinto National Monument. The base station is at elevation 2,643 feet, the tram will take you up the Chino Canyon to mountain station at elevation 8,500 feet. It's a 2 1/2 mile ride in takes 10 minutes, climbing 6,000 feet. Going from desert to a alpine wilderness forest, better than any ride at Disney Land! If you like camping in the wilderness with just a backpack and the minimum gear this is as good as it gets. A good climb is to the top of Mt. San Jacinto (elevation 10,834 feet).
Example of temperature change today Palm Springs was about 110 at 5 pm with a low temp. of 91. Up on the mountain station the low temp. was 64 and the high was 71. I know of no place with such a contrast in both climate and scenery in just 10 minutes. A good place to play in the snow all winter too!

    Tell Mt. Lemmon Hello. LOL.

That's where I'd go in the summer on really hot days. Go up high enough an it's like a 20 degree change in temp!

Sure ya been but if not...Check out Catalina State Park, just north of Tucson, in...Catalina..lol. Good paths an the like if ya'll dig the hiking. Oracle State Park is pretty cool to, but tons of tree an deer an the like.

    Gah..now I'm really missing my 2nd home.

You should send me a sub from Eegee's.

Sirscrapalot - Would kill...not maim, not injure..but kill for a sub from Eegee's..oh an some of the ranch fries.

Got my air conditioner in place and running. Just running the fan on it now, but I did have it cool things down and now have the fan going with the vent open to vent outside.

Now I have a COOL TIME machine for my travels on the net.

    Hobo, you hormone!
We're in "flood season" right now. Even had a tornado warning last night.
We usually don't get our "dry heat" until late July...and then half the state bursts into flames.

Yall keep talking about dry heat. We don't know what that is here in Tennessee. Last week the temps were in the mid 90's and the humidity was about 85%. It's really nice when the temps are around 100 and the humidity is 95%.

I'm filling in for Hobo now, I guess:

You Montana people sure love fire! This spring, I saw someone burning just south of Bridger. They had fifty acres burning at once. I could see the smoke all the way past Belfry. I hope they were able to keep that burn controlled. We all know what can happen when that doesn't happen.

Yeah Matador, they get a little with the "controlled" burns around here.
They burned down my fence a couple years ago and blamed it on me.
Said I had too much beauty bark in my rose garden...in MY yard.
"I don't care if I've got dryer lint, dynamite and gasoline soaked goats! Ya burned down my fence, ya goober!"
Set 'em back a couple grand so they're very "controlled" when they get to my property now.

It is an eMachines. They were budget machines, so maybe she thinks the cases were budget, too?

I can tell you that you will never make that work. Plus, the right side is off anyways!
