    "Just ignore your Pain"

    These are the words of the government I received yesterday at my monthly Dr. visit.

    I have been getting 4 shots in my back every two weeks for about a year to enable me to work. My alternative is to take so many pain pills I turn into a Zombi.

    Yesterday I was told by my DR. that Obama care would now only allow me to get the shots every 3 months.

    So now the government is going to allow me to work about 3 days every 3 months. WTF. Actually it is not a surprise I saw it coming when they passed a 2000 page bill with out reading it.

    "anyone who thinks scrappin is easy money ain't doin it right!"

    Remember it is cheaper, better care, and you get to keep your insurance and doctor if you want. At least I think that is what was written in those 2,000 pages. I am sorry to hear about your situation, but at least you have not been referred to one of the health panels yet. When that happens you will not need the pain pills much less the shots. Good luck to you Old Dude.

    In the last year I have developed a circulation problem to the lower part of my body (knees down). Been going to the doctor every month since last August. I pay for my Insurance, last year it was much higher than the year before, this year it went down. I have been paying for my own insurance since 1992 when it was about $95 a month and I now pay just over $500 a month. I went to the doctor in the late 90's four or five times (softball injury) and that's it! Now that I have a real problem, I would like to get it diagnosed and treated, eleven months later I have pages of what it's not and two big bottles of pain pills! My Doctor last week asked me, Has any of your specialist (cardiologist/neurologist) been approved yet? My short answer NO! She said welcome to Obama Care, maybe you should try to use your VA benefits. I said but I have private insurance, she says It's all the same "ball game" now! I think we are in for a lot of pain.

    Take a bill and send it to Nancy (we have to pass the bill so we can see what is in it) Puglosi's office for payment. What that clown said when she was the speaker of the house would be the EXACT same thing as a car salesman telling her, "you need to sign the contract so we can see all the terms". I can imagine what she would say when she heard those words.

    Insurance has gone crazy! I do not need abortion coverage- I'm a man for crying out loud! Since pre-existing conditions can't be charged, guess how that money is made? That's right- we're all paying like crazy now!

    Thanks! < /sarcasm>

    It should have more rightly been called PelosiCare.

    If the insurance would cover it as a prescription, that would be a $5 deductible I won't complain about!

    If that was in reply to my post Burt...

    Grow your own. Medical Pot patients I believe can own so many plants. States like Co an Washington where it's legal for all you can own up to I think it's 6? Something like that. Perfect for folks like me, Olddude, an many others I'm sure who don't want to be fed pills.

    I have enough rants on here an pills, legal or abused, so I'll spare you all another :P

    I ever find myself in such a spot, you can best believe I'll be trying that lovely plant over pills..after all, not like smoking a joint or eating a "magic" brownie will give you anal bleeding, or you know..death. Ha!

    Sirscrapalot - Not a pill popper.

    My doctor and I discussed medical marijuana last month, as she keeps increasing the pain pill dosage and I'm having a hard time getting my A$$ moving in the mornings. I decided against it as my step daughter is going into the ninth grade. Kids these days are already exposed to way more than I was at that age and I don't want to be giving the wrong message to her right now.

    Yeah ... been there ... done that back in the day. The Federal prohibition doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense but from my experience i really wouldn't recommend it to anybody. The side effects are nasty & insidious.

    The THC stores in the fat cells of the body and has a cumulative effect. Over time, it creeps up on you and colors the way you look at the world. You have to be away from it for a few years before you can see it for what it is.

    It's about like most other things .... used in MODERATION it will probably never hurt you.

    (The main problem is that we seldom do things in moderation here in the states.)

    Not to get into this subject...

    But untill I see I some concrete evidence from those who claim "Something will happen if you use pot..". Because everything I've read has said the exact opposite. Most that say otherwise are from Government studies, who also say there is no acceptable use for medical Marijuana. I can point out tens of thousands who suffer from conditions ranging from AIDS, to Cancer, to Substance abuse, bad backs, joint pain, cataracts, etc etc etc who say it's done nothing but help them.

    My grandfather used it to rebuild his strength after rounds of Chemo sucked the life from him. So I am a tad bias. When your alternative are prescription drugs they know will KILL you, or do other serious harm to your budy..me? I'm going with the magic brownie, the pot tea, or the joint.

    Just an example..

    Let's see what Viagra can do to you..you know..known side effects, an still released to the public..

    sudden vision loss;
    ringing in your ears, or sudden hearing loss;
    chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;
    irregular heartbeat;
    swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet;
    shortness of breath;
    vision changes;
    feeling light-headed, fainting; or
    penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer.

    Less serious side effects may include:

    warmth or redness in your face, neck, or chest;
    stuffy nose;
    headache;
    memory problems;
    upset stomach; or
    back pain.

    This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

    Again....I'll take my chances, it can't be worse then the crap the government deems is safe for me.

    Disclaimer: I'm by no means advocating illegal drug usage, I'm just discussing the different treatments available for folks who are tired of being fed crap that will kill them, an is known to do so. There are other choices out there. There is to much BS out there on the subject, an it's well past time for it to be discussed openly.

    Sirscrapalot - Is it really amazing that when the majority of commercials on tvs are from big Pharm..that we see a sudden rise in people having more an more conditions? Tell someone they got something long enough, an they'll believe you.

    I did my share of just about everything, until about the age of 30, and then this thing called "responsibility", took over my brain. As for marijuana recreational use, I personally don't have a problem with full legalization, that doesn't mean I'll be lighting up a joint anytime soon. As for medical marijuana, that debate is over, tried and proven for many years. My doctor brought up the subject last month and it was pure medical talk. If I didn't have a teenage daughter in the house I probably would have applied for my card through the California Department of Health. I have a brother who has Crohn's Disease, he probably would not be alive today if he could not use medical marijuana for pain and to simply eat food! We need to quit with the refer madness nonsense and deal with the realities of life.

    This is my point. Thank you Burt.

    An I totally hear you. Your in Cali if I recall, an they were the forerunners in the battle of Medical Pot. So yea, doesn't surprise me your doc suggested it. Good to hear, even if you decided against it, you were given the option.

    I like others had some fun in my youth, don't regret it. If it was legal here in my state, I vary may be saying different about still partaking in it.. LOL.

    I can drink beer, I can smoke tobacco, I can eat food with chemicals in it..but I can't smoke some pot. Boggles my mind.

    Oh well, times are a'changing..it's just slow going at times.

    I hope you and your body can find a way to get along.

    There were a few years where my back and I were not speaking with each other. By the grace of God, I rarely have problems now, but I do watch what I do.

    This is mainly for people reading, as I believe Olddude has learned quite a bit from his trips around the block. Be careful with pain meds. I am not talking about addiction. If you take strong meds, you will not feel your body warning you that you are causing damage. The meds can allow you to do stupid things that cost you days of crawling on the floor.

    Well I have been seeing a lot of commercials about back surgery with a one inch incision. I have know several people who had back surgery in years past and most were just a little better than before than before the surgery. Good luck, Mike
