Take a look back way back at old threads

I was doing this looking at the buyers section, but then expanded. People thought they were going to get rich at $.11 a pound for steel, good quotes by Bear and Mic as well... So when you get tired of all the same old questions go back and see some of the old ones and posts that followed..

They really show how much the forum has grown, used to be little to no replies to threads now the community has grown and is active. Could be good, could be bad.

I like reading the old threads. One thing I find interesting is that most of the people that posted on those threads haven't posted in a long time. I still wonder what happened to Bear.

well...in the OLD post...you would find me but then again I'm back now lol. Even back then tho Devin I think there was alot of replies on threads on alot of things. Some things [as it is today mostly likely..] are some well guarded secrets on how we move our product and how we make our money but the basic level stuff on HOW to break x down or the whole "cut here and find some goodies under this flap thing" was pretty common. I know I posted ALOT of good tips that helped me when buying product from members on here and over all got them a better price even if they did not come to me.

Bear got in a pissing match with another member of the forum and was offended. We visited several times in private messages and phone calls. I can tell you he could not afford to call anyone, if you wanted to visit with him you had to call him. There are several other members of the forum that were sensitive and just disappeared from the forum instead of dealing with the pain.

I have posted many times that you should not say anything on the forum that you would not say face to face and be ready for a right hook or watch the individual cry. Those that know me are aware that my profession dealt with bullying on a daily basis.

Now this information may be new or old to some of you. We have many big time contributors to the forum that have never been to a scrap yard. They are individuals that spend endless hours researching threads to be able to contribute and feel part of a community. The information they bring to the forum is valuable as well as their contributions and participation.

I have kept this information to myself for many years and since Bear has not returned for over two years, his decision is final in my mind. I hope we can remember this in how we deal with other members. By the way Bear, I know you will read this and I have not figured out who you are now a days. Good luck my friend.
Give back more to this world than we take.

Like I said in my last post, I enjoy reading the old threads. I'll pick someone like Bear, Mech or Mick and spend time reading through their posts. There is a wealth of knowledge there for anyone to access. Patriot76, if you ever have time I wish you would post some more pics of projects you work on. If I remember correctly you did some very big demo jobs.

If there is anyone reading this as a guest, or are using a different name who used to be active members but for whatever reason are staying silent, I want to thank you for your contributions to this forum.

There are a lot of names I remember but don't see posting anymore and I miss them.

My ability to save or make people money on those big projects disappeared with the drop in metal prices. Therefore my services are not needed. I spend most of my time now learning and scrapping non-ferrous. The non-ferrous is being stockpiled to learn more and for better prices. I may share pictures of this one man process in the near future. It is a big project, but the progress cannot really be seen.
